Out of the Blue

We had a lovely time with our friends last night, it had been a couple of years since some of us got together, so it was worth the effort. Oddly, even though it is harder to find bad or expensive Chinese food than it is to find cheap and good food in Manhattan's Chinatown, last night's dinner was both expensive, and the food was pretty terrible. On the other hand, something like two of the last three times I've tried the Chinese food in Westchester I've ended up with some form of food poisoning, so I guess I should just be thankful to still be upright at this point.

Surprised? No.
Disappointed? HELL YES!

That's pretty much it in a nutshell. And based on the second trailer, I was a little worried about the frame rate, and hopefully this should give them plenty of time to fix that.

The fact that they're pushing it THAT far off makes you wonder:
A) Exactly how behind they were and
B) Based on that, were they really considering shipping in the current state?

I will buy a sexbox360, but not in a hurry to do so, maybe a better deal for it will come out on top of the price drop next week.

Not to mention the Falcon chipset that should be cooler...

Of course, if you don't get one this fall, you'll be kicking yourself when I rave about Mass Effect, Ace Combat, and uh...what was that other one...

1. Anyone had any issues w/ AVG Free and Outlook 2007? It looks like Outlook doesn't like AVG's plug-in for Outlook...

The Outlook looks bleak

2. Anyone know any good tweak/config sites/FAQs for Windows Pista? It's running fine, but I was wondering what extraneous stuff I should be killing...

All signs point to no

Surprised? No.
Disappointed? HELL YES!

They didn't really SHOW anything other than a very small piece at E3, which led me to believe they were behind schedule.

At the point of E3, I would imagine an OCT release date would have meant damn near final game just starting some first phase testing of the "final" build.

I dunno. That is ok, the closer to Jan the better for me, I will buy a sexbox360, but not in a hurry to do so, maybe a better deal for it will come out on top of the price drop next week.

Seeing as how I'm going to need to upgrade to Vista soon (stupid DX10 exlusive) which is the better method: Upgrade edition or full version? I know back in the 98->XP days it was considered a very bad idea to do an upgrade, does that still hold true or do I need to cough up an extra $50 for a full version of Vista?

The biggest issue for me is that I need to be able to transfer the OS across systems, as my gaming rig tends to get updated hardware pretty regularly.

Edit: Apparently going from XP Pro to Vista Home Premium requires a clean install. Can I even use an upgrade version?
Edit 2: Looks like I'm S.O.L. Full version for me; even if I could get the upgrade I wouldn't. I'm not about to install XP and then Vista when I want to move the OS.

The easiest way is.

Insert Boot disk format: "drive letter of choice" pull out XP disk re-install.

I lasted about two weeks with Vista ultimate drove me nuts...

The easiest way is.
Right click on Desktop, Personalize. Then Windows Color And Appearance. Then, at the bottom in text "Open Classic Appearance Properties For More Color Options".

An even easier way is to right-click on the desktop, goto Personalization. Click 'Theme', select 'Winows Classic'. Wait a 15-20 seconds.

I'm running Vista Business, Vista Home Premium and Vista Ultimate on three different laptops.

How many times do I have to say I did not upgrade, it came with the new laptop and would have cost $80 more to not get Vista.

You upgraded by default!

Ahahaha..sorry. I just bought a new desktop for home and I was actually stuck with the same situation.

If anyone is interested - here is the Satellite view before it collapsed. You can see the U of M to the right and all of the housing N and NW of that area (a lot of it) is a very old hood with a lot of U housing. (most houses are 1900-1930 era)

http://tinyurl.com/2ydejl

Just NW of this area (Hennepin) is a bustling NE MPLS community with condos going up and a revitalization. This area of MPLS has been around since day 1 of the creation of MPLS.

I live directly north of the incident.

Did you give blood yet Batman?

The Sherrif just announced that they need more volunteers.
I'm stopping by the one by the U before work.

I haven't heard anything yet. Last I heard they didn't need blood, but volunteers and money donations were needed at the Holiday Inn (ground zero for families to re-unite).

I am at work but haven't received any more calls.

/edit: Just got a call, they requested us for security detail, traffic, and general assistance - nothing major. I already had a shift tomorrow night, so I am not eligible. Bummer.

They didn't have many streets blocked off until around 11pm last night, so I am sure they need a lot of outside agency assistance keeping roads in the area closed.

I just use web-based email for home as I check it at work as well. Problem solved.

We use Outlook at work for email, which is fine, but I use Palm calendar software instead of Outlook.

Eh, it's a system that works for me.

People use Outlook at home? Wow. It took them 3 years to force me to switch from Eudora to Outlook at work and I have been cursing them ever since.

I used to like Eudora, but didn't like the direction it went in later versions...

And like Enahs, the PC came with Pista Home. And I'm not paying an additional amount for XP...and so far, it's fine.

So how is that $80.00 "savings" looking now? Tard.

Just fine. As I can install XP anytime I want, tard.
I have no serious issues with Vista so far, just minor annoying things.
