Out of the Blue

I'm not really part of the Harry Potter cult, but today's big ol' release of the final installment in the series was still an event here at the BlueTower, as MrsBlue has received her copy. I am well known by my friends as one of those who goes nuts when the ending of something gets spoiled, but she is quite different, and may indeed end up being one of those who peeks at the ending before reading the whole thing. Different strokes for different folks.

Still on Kilrogg (well, my main toons.)

I have a rogue and warrior and my girlfriend has a hunter and druid. All are 70 and raid-spec.

Honestly, I wish Blizzard would be less greedy about ream transfers. Put a time limit on it or make it all toons from one realm to another, but the $25 is crazy expensive.
Especially in my case. I moved an am no longer in the time zone...

I would, but I'm not paying $25 for a copy and paste to a server. Even more so when I'm looking at four toons...
Damn you and your greed, Blizzard.
Willing to copy and past stuff for only $20!,

HP is okay - not bad, but definitely overrated. But then again, nothing wrong with people jumping on something to get excited about and it definitely pushed people to read more.

I think, early on, the books brought up some nostalgia from the early childhood days (Remember the fantasy of magic and wizardy as a kid?,) but it has turned into a decent series. It can be appreciated by all age groups, though, and should be praised as such.

I really, really hate the ending in the current book, though. It is not bad per se, but very simple. Even with doing what they had to, a few simple changes could have made it much more poignant and epic. I actually think the movie will have a much better ending.

Looking for a new WoW guild :(,
Ray Because of stupid in-game drama and others leaving for LotRO.

Ray, you so confuse me.

You say this.
Futurama is a far better show and that, regardless of how many times I've seen episodes, I will stop to watch.
Which I so agree on!
Then you say this in SST
I know its faults and it's not for everybody, but I love The Fountain.
Love that movie? WTF? How could anybody even like that movie. That is in the top 10 contenders for worst movies ever made!

We have the same birthday, and sometimes we like so much of the same stuff it is scary. Then you say you like that crap, man, now that is scary! You are crazy man!

Anyway, Happy early birthday!!

Eh...The Simpsons is okay, but it has been on for a long time. I was a huge, huge fan in the early years (note my age then, too,) but I do not recall the last time I have seen a "new" episode. I frequently flip through it on syndication, but being bored with it, I have not stopped to watch it for some time.

Edit: I had fun visiting the local "Kwik-E-Mart," but I have no intention of seeing the movie in the theater.

Futurama is a far better show and that, regardless of how many times I've seen episodes, I will stop to watch. The Simpsons is not bad, but it really has not changed in, what, twenty years?

Anyway, the movie is way, way, way, way too late. I think it will do okay, but I will be surprised if is a huge success in the U.S. It could be - heaven knows The Simpsons are loved by a lot of people and there are - literally - twenty years worth of fans to see it, but I do not know how much of a pull it will have people. I do not know a lot of people that are super energized about the film, but I do know a lot of people who might go to see it just because of their old history with it.

But if they had released the film five, much less ten, years ago? It would be a guaranteed gigantic smash.

Even with its lackluster third-act twist, I want to see Sunshine, but it is not playing anywhere near here. I will keep an eye on it, but I think I may have to wait for the DVD release before I can buy and watch it. It looks like it will be a fair pairing with other titles such as Solaris, Children of Men, The Fountain, etc.

Which, needless to say, means a lot of people will not actually like the film...but I will label it fantastic.
I know its faults and it's not for everybody, but I love The Fountain.
Vastly preferring the previous game, but having still purchased SPM,
Ray

Well Enahs as for the dad reading it before the kid, maybe he was actually being a responsible parent and reading the book to make sure it was appropriate for the child? As I said before starting with book 3 or 4 the series gets VERY dark, and may not be appropriate for all kids.
If that's the case we need more parents like him

I too, am interested in Sunshine. But I will wait for DVD. The trailers make it look way to much like a college hippie artsy type movie that tries to be really deep and thought provoking but it is really nothing more then an annoying stupid narrow minded point of view about the evil "man".

But I also think the Simpsons hasn't been funny in years. And I'm apparently in the minority on that, as people continue to watch it (I have no idea why).

No. It has sucked. It is not funny. I think it has stayed successful because while it got really shitty, they also captured the new generation; which likes really shitty cartoons.

But still, it is nowhere near as popular as it once was.

Ehh. I predict it will be marginally successful. Maybe in 2000 it would have been a huge success, I am not so sure about now.

I think it'll make at least 75-100 million, in the US. But I also think the Simpsons hasn't been funny in years. And I'm apparently in the minority on that, as people continue to watch it (I have no idea why).

I want to see "Sunshine" as I'm a SciFi junkie and it got good reviews.

Let us know how that is. On the one hand it looks good, and on the other, the plot description reminds me a bit too much of Event Horizon, which had all kinds of possibilities and then (I thought) ended up sucking royally...

I'm annoyed at the theaters. I want to see "Sunshine" as I'm a SciFi junkie and it got good reviews. But the limited release is pissing me off, if I want to see it I need to go to "the city" which I'm not about to do just for a movie.

Why the hell can't it be playing somewhere within 30 minutes of my house :-(

Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait for it to hit DVD.

Why the hell can they not read it at the same general time? It just requires two bookmarks and respecting the other persons bookmark. I mean, sure, maybe come 7pm you both want to read, but ahh well, chances are pretty good you want to read at separate times.

That is here in America. I think in certain Asian countries there might be riots on opening night due to lack of seating!

And the following week we gte the next Bourne film - which certainly won't but will do extremely well and I'm beyond the valley of the anxious to see. If you haven't seen the newest trailer, watch it! No more shakey cam! Yay!
