Eidos announces the Hitman Trilogy, a bundle of three Hitman games
that put the player in the role of a professional assassin. The package goes on
sale tomorrow for PC and PS2:

Hitman Trilogy, available for PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and PC-DVD, will feature Hitman: Blood Money, Hitman: Silent Assassin, and Hitman: Contracts along with a sneak preview bonus disc of Eidos’ upcoming thriller Kane & Lynch: Dead Men.

The popular Hitman series puts gamers in the role of the infamous Agent 47, a killer for hire. Armed with an arsenal of weapons and the ability to take advantage of all the dangers found in an everyday environment, Agent 47 will do anything to complete a contract signed in blood. Featuring open-ended action gameplay and an immersive and dark storyline, each game brings players deeper into a ruthless world filled with cold-blooded revenge.
Included with the trilogy is the Kane & Lynch: Dead Men bonus disc - crammed with trailers, art, and screens - that offers gamers a glimpse into the sinister world of this upcoming game. The original Hitman had a somewhat different feel than the newer games also, so it makes sense to leave it out of this package. It was a lot more feasible to run-and-gun in the first Hitman (one of the missions involved you facing a guy with an M60, for crying out loud). It still encouraged stealthy gameplay, but it didn't make it 99% mandatory like the later games did. Even though the games are basically the same since Silent Assassin, they seem to be getting more and more "open" with each iteration. For example, most of the missions in Blood Money had multiple ways to complete them, which wasn't true of the original (the original had missions with multiple paths, but it seemed to be the exception rather than the rule).
Also, as Jerryk said, the first Hitman was PC-only, so they couldn't include it in this package without porting it to the PS2. Still, it would have made a cool bonus for the PC version.
This is a good value if you don't have any of the included games. If you are just looking for Silent Assassin and Contracts though, you could probably find them cheaper separately.

Not really. Contracts didn't have any storyline and it certainly didn't include the storyline from the original game. I do find it odd that they didn't include the original in this pack, though. On the other hand, the original is the only one that was PC-only, so maybe they didn't want to put the effort into porting it to the PS2.

Blue, small error: this isn't "the first three Hitman games".
The original "Hitman: Codename 47" is not listed, and the most recent "Blood Money" is. I understand that "Contracts" included missions from the original game, so I can only guess that the storyline is more or less intact as a result.

Apart from the demos, I haven't played any of them and I'll be picking this up.

Who TF cares? Anybody that liked these games already played them. Same with Thief.
Saw this while browsing Gogamer the other day and wondered wtf I hadn't heard about it. Guess it's because they jumped the gun or something. Will probably pick this up, Hitman 1 is still my favorite of the series and by extension I liked Contracts as much. Time for a replay for Hitman 2 right about now too.
$30 for the compilation seems a bit extreme though. $20 for all the Police Quests/Space Quests was a much better deal, even if that Sierra compilation was an abomination. 'Please print out this long manual before playing, you'll need it', ok thanks Sierra!
