Out of the Blue

I'm not sure why, but today being the anniversary of the D-Day invasion in World War II stands out in my mind to a surprising degree. I have to stop and think, or even double-check, on birthdays of people close to me, and even my wedding anniversary… very few dates stand out in my mind like June 6 does. And no, in spite of my advancing years, I do not remember this from having lived through it. The big one, as Archie Bunker liked to call it, was before even my time.

I hate (M)NPR with a passion.

that's ok, they feel the same about you/your profession too.

What - a business professional who owns a home, has a few vehicles, pays his taxes, etc etc?

Yeah, I would assume they do - but who else are those libs going to get to hike taxes on to pay for illegal's benefits?

If it's still on Minn NPR, "A Prarie Home Companion" is wonderful, best storytelling EVER, Garrison Keeler captures the essence of growing up in the midwest perfectly.

This date sticks with me as well, maybe has to do with many relatives that fought in 'double-u double-u two, the big one'.

Same here, but I'm a WW2 nerd.

I wonder if it's all the WW2 games? Seems just as likely as any other explanation.

Archie Bunker: That ain't the American Way, buddy. No, siree. Listen here, professor. You're the one who need an American History lesson. You don't know nothin' about Lady Liberty standin' there in the harbor, with her torch on high screamin' out to all the nations in the world: "Send me your poor, your deadbeats, your filthy." And all the nations send 'em in here, they come swarming in like ants. Your Spanish P.R.'s from the Caribboin, your Japs, your Chinks, your Krauts and your Hebes and your English fags. All of 'em come in here and they're all free to live in their own separate sections where they feel safe. And they'll bust your head if you go in there. *That's* what makes America great, buddy

Classic! Thanks for the laugh .....

You should watch "Band of Brothers" instead.
No, tard, I shouldn't.

Band of Brothers is excellent, but today is the anniversary of D-Day, and SPR is a very good reconstruction of D-Day. Every time I watch that first 20 minutes it moves me to think about the madness and terror and extraordinary sacrifice by everyone involved on both sides on that day. Good films affect you - scare you, please your thirst for action, stretch your imagination. It's very rare that a film humbles you, and (for me) SPR did so.

I'm taken thanks. Plus, you'd have to fight my wife and she's a boxer, so she'd prolly whoop ya.

She whooped me real good the other day.

She has one hell of a "left hook", if ya know what I mean.

I thought "Spaced Out" was hilarious, and was really surprised it didn't make top 3 last week. With the shuffling around of that show on the TV schedule, does anyone know when the next episode airs? My PVR shows nothing, so I'm guessing next week sometime?
