Well the problem is trying to use games to push people to a new OS. It's just not a very good idea, PC gamers are not as accepting of that kind of crap as consolers.
True, until this recent generation of consoles (particularly the Wii), a console OS was largely transparent. A little configuring to set up your resolution/aspect ration and maybe the console's clock if you were inclined.
For me, I like Vista so it's not an issue
I actually do, too. I dual-booted it along with a distribution of Linux onto my notebook and have been learning how to use it as a main OS if desired. No real reason, just wanted to see what all the fuss about Linux was.
I really can't see using it as the only desktop OS yet, but some things, like KDE and Beryl, are just friggin awesome.
