Vista Halo 2 Delayed Again

Microsoft Games Studios announces that Halo 2 for Windows Vista now has a new release date of June 8, though the press release has a London dateline, making it possible that this announcement only covers the UK or European edition of the shooter. The Vista edition of the game was expected Tuesday, and Microsoft has once again waited until the 11th hour to announce the slip (the May 22 date was announced on May 8, the previous due date (story)). No explanation for the delay is offered.

I just bought some slippers. They're very comfortable. I have yet to make the leap to consoles.

I have large hands, and just don't care to have all the buttons crammed into a tiny controller.

Really? that controller was both genuinely gigantic and too heavy after using it for a few hours. I was pretty happy with the new controller design. Then again I like the ps2 controller best.

Is Microsoft trying to imply that their operating system is "good"?

Silly question. Of course they say it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I still miss the size of the first Xbox controller.

The 360 controller works really well as a main controller for the PC.

I've never much liked the 360 controller. I find the placement of the left analog stick to be uncomfortable and awkward. The front triggers are also awkward to push. I much prefer Logitech's Dual Shock ripoff.

zag, there was nothing groundbreaking about the craptacular port of Halo 1 to the PC. It ran like crap when it was released. And I won't even go into the pistol in MP games.

As for Wildone... you bought Vista and installed you, you deal with the aftermath. If you were stupid enough to install it, you get whats coming to ya gaming wise, which is craptacular support at this time.

And as much as I love to be a PC Lover, with getting a 360 I no longer have to worry about getting Games for Vista, at least until the OS is stable, and I upgrade my system.

It's just not a very good idea, PC gamers are not as accepting of that kind of crap as consolers.

For me, I like Vista so it's not an issue

Edit : now if Starcraft 2 was Vista only? that would actually be a app people give a shit about and WOULD upgrade for despite Vista's pitfalls

Really? You think so? You'd upgrade to Vista to play the exact same game with a slight graphics update? The few "gameplay" videos I've seen of Starcraft so far are HORRIBLY underwhelming. It's exactly the same game, it just looks marginally prettier. You'd think Blizzard would at least take a FEW things from DoW, CoH or SupCom and implement them, right?
I know it's probably still early, but it looks like a graphics Mod for Starcraft so far. And yet everyone keeps chanting how "innovative" Blizzard is. Err, okay.

I tried Vi$ta its a bloated restrictive piece of crash ware it needs at least another year of hacks and a service pack still holding out hope for DX10 on XP.

Bloated, but not very restrictive, or at least it's not restrictive as far as the far as the programs and media applications I run. All the problems I've had were compatibility issues (mostly with older games).

Bloated it is.

No shit?

None, indeed. The 360 controller works really well as a main controller for the PC. With third party tweaks I had it set up just like the control schemes in the console variants of GTA.

actually, it's any 360 pad, there's no special version for the PC, the wired one just works (requires freely downloadable MS driver, or there are 3rd party ones if you wish), though for the wireless ones require you to buy a little usb receiver.

No shit? I might have to look into getting that then, at some point. I can't think of anything I'd play joystick over mouse right now but I do like that controller.

edit: Vi$ta? Seriously? I thought we were past people saying "m$" and all that other retarded bullshit.

That's weird. I can pop over to my local EB and pick up a copy of Halo 2 for the PC right now if I wanted to. It's been available in Australia for just under a week now.

Instead I use Linux better looking desktop than Vi$ta by far.

Yep, Games for Windows requires that you show the UI interface with the buttons that mimic the Xbox360 controller. It's not a porting bug, but an intentional design decision. Welcome to the world of PC games being played on a joystick.

them using a game to try and push people onto a new OS does not surprise me.

but come on, halo2? someone needs to send them a memo telling them it may have filled their pockets with cash but the majority of FPS PC gamers could honestly care less.

Well the problem is trying to use games to push people to a new OS. It's just not a very good idea, PC gamers are not as accepting of that kind of crap as consolers.

True, until this recent generation of consoles (particularly the Wii), a console OS was largely transparent. A little configuring to set up your resolution/aspect ration and maybe the console's clock if you were inclined.

For me, I like Vista so it's not an issue

I actually do, too. I dual-booted it along with a distribution of Linux onto my notebook and have been learning how to use it as a main OS if desired. No real reason, just wanted to see what all the fuss about Linux was.

I really can't see using it as the only desktop OS yet, but some things, like KDE and Beryl, are just friggin awesome.
