Halo was always a poor FPS compared to what was available on the PC platform.
They're apples and oranges.
The game's virtue was in multiplayer, and honestly, it's rather hard to expect the exactness in control you get in a PC FPS to carry over to the console (for all the people who bitch about the controls in a console FPS).
Of course, I could ask "Halo is poor compared to what FPS?" and the response would most likely be "Compared to this this this and that" and probably "Halo is just a crappy FPS altogether."
Well, yes, but that's just forgetting the simple fact it's the king MP game on the console, so it must be doing something right for millions of people to enjoy it.
Or as Jerykk would mention, millions of people liking something are obviously sheep.
Kind of sad people have become so obsessed with it that they'd pay a 200% markup for not much return.
No kidding. Spec Editions of games have become so bland in the last decade I really don't really find much virtue in buying them anymore.
Hell, I remember the first release of Baldur's Gate had all sorts of fun stuff in, thick-ass manual, map, etc. Good luck getting a publisher to do that sort of thing anymore. Of course, if the release is something like an id product, you can get a tin box if you want. Heh.
