Hellgate Guru has word from the latest issue of Games for Windows magazine revealing the pricing structure for Hellgate: London, Flagship Studio' upcoming action/RPG. While there will be free basic online play, those willing to pay $9.95 per month for an "Elite" membership will get perks such as 24/7 support, no server queues, extra characters, a larger inventory, access to additional game modes, and more. The $9.95 rate is the North American price, the article mentions other territories will be priced differently, offering the Asian market as an example of where it will be much less expensive for an Elite account. I stuck up for this game quite a bit, now I feel relieved that I no longer have to make excuses for it. I want Diablo 3, sure...but I'm not paying 10 bucks a month to get features that come free in every other single action RPG - such as Titan Quest, Dungeon Siege 1, Dungeon Siege 2, Nox, Revenant, Sacred, Mageknight..ect ect...

It's like that Tom Petty song "Now they want us to pay for what we used to get for free". Wonderful.

I was burnt by Phantasy Star Universe when THEY did this, and I'll be damned if I fall for it again. In PSU, you paid 10 bucks a month to have the right to play a game where 90% of the content was locked off on the U.S. servers and was slowly trickled out in timed releases. Though it was annoying, at least you had content. This Hellgate susbcription fee is just to avoid the server Queue and be able to make more then one character. Christ...is this a joke???

Flagship is in for a VERY rude awakening.
