most of the sscpting bugs have been ironed out (I still have a good screenshot of a jeep flying hundred of mis in the air )

Overall its a good game. Not as good as Op flashpoint (althgh it could just nostalgia) but good nontheless.

Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Wow, that is one comprehensive guide. Of course, most of the tactics involved are pretty common sense to most FPS players. Still, a handy guide for players new to the genre.

Gee thanks for the spam.

I thought the demo sucked ass and uninstalled ASAP, but after reading a few post maybe I need to try the US version.

For those that felt CS or BF were close to reality, OFP and ArmA are much closer.

...people actually believe that CS and BF are close to reality?

"I remember briefly trying the demo of this, and I was distinctly unimpressed by it when compared to Operation Flashpoint.

Is it worth picking up despite a bad first impression?"

Really? I played Flashpoint right at release. It was a buggy shambles. The A.I. could hardly stay on the roads they were driving on at 1st. Controlling tanks on that part of the campaigne was as well buggy as hell. The list goes on and on.

Once patched .... FP did become amazing. I loved that game even with all the bugs. But I gotta say that the early Arma demo and now this U.S. demo pretty well kick FP in the nadz in so many areas. Way less buggy A.I...... and right at Armas release.

Not to mention Armas visuals make FP look like 16 bit... if ya got the rig to support the visuals overhaul. Arma definately seems to me to be a FP Evolution. Once the modders get to it, I think it is gonna really open up.

The U.S. version is better (less buggy) than the U.S. demo. I've been playing the Press version of ArmA for a week.

I loved OpFlashpoint. for the time it was very good.
Now I went to fly the chopper in the demo..it was about as realistic as Battlefield2's..in fact even LESS So. I was kinda dissapointed..I know its not a chopper sim..or a tank sim or a jet sim. But they really nerfed the flight model which does'nt really keep with their "realistic" mantra does it.

It certainly is not the closest a FPS CAN get to reality but one can make the argument its the closest of any FPS out so far. That does not make it a good game though

Hyperbole is lost on you people.

But it stands true. On a scale of 1-100 judging the reality of current video games, the most realistic game is about a .05.

Which, again, was said by no one.

What was SAID was "closest to reality a game can get." It does NOT say "close to reality." There's a major difference.

For those that felt CS or BF were close to reality, OFP and ArmA are much closer. THAT is the comparison being made.

And there's no way a game can ever even attempt to be close to the reality.
