Theatre of War Demo

The Theatre of War Website now offers a new demo to allow the chance to sample Theatre of War, Battlefront's World War II strategy game. Word is: "The demo features 5 tutorial missions which cover the basics of gameplay, unit control and camera behavior as well as more advanced topics like Line of Fire and Line of Sight. In addition to the playable tutorials there is also one playable mission from the German Campaign, The Last Frontier. In this late war engagement, you are tasked to try and stem the overwhelming tide of Russian armor and infantry as they push forward into the Seelow Heights on the outskirts of Berlin." The download is mirrored on 3D Downloads, ComputerGames.ro, FanGaming, FileFront, Gamer's Hell, Internode Games Network, and Strategy Informer.

As long as it supports pausing to issue commands I am all good. I'll be giving it a try tonight.

I really like the Combat Mission series; this new take looks very promising I'll try it when I get home. I'm used to turn based action though, but due to the size of these skirmishes I don't think running in real time will be that bad. I found this trailer online, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyCbwNqT98o
I loled.

dammit I love those ww2 strategy games!! I hope they make more. Personally why waste the next gen CPU cycles & hardware on overrated "pretty graphics" when you can have tinyish pixel characters on a table top movin around. Hell yea!!

I've been playing it and it's very good. It's not a casual RTS like COH or the totally mindless 17 year old dated gameplay of C&C.

This is a simulator. A war simulator.
Not sure if i'll buy it but I do like it.

I downloaded and tried this demo last night. It's actually a pretty good game. I'm not a fan of RTS click fests, and thankfully, this certainly isn't one of those. The camera is a little funky at first, and takes a little getting used to (settings are adjustable). Overall a very good title if you appreciate a little more realism and RL tactical elements in your RTS titles. I'll be picking this one up for sure.

Sim type games are what i started my gamming with, titles like kampgruppe SSI, Silent service Microprose, M1 Tank platoon Microprose. still to this day have not been matched and they came out in the early 80s. Here hoping this game can capture some of that and more with updated graphics.

Only sims out that are worthy are that sub sim and sturmovick from oleg.

Be back with a mini review.
