Out of the Blue

Off to the great white north of upstate New York to visit the Ego clan to celebrate the recent birthdays of our niece and sis-in-law. On the subject of birthdays, happy birthday to the Internet (thanks Mike Martinez), though it can be argued that that April 7, 1969 RFC was more the 'net's moment of conception, rather than birth.

Birthday Links! Thanks Ant.
Play: Cannon Bods. Thanks Jay is Games.
Stories: Dogs - Shelters - Animal Rescue - New Tricks (registration required). Thanks j.c.f.
Rolling Stone Bill Wyman introduces...a signature metal detector.
Science!: Man's pig-cell implants still active 10 years on.
Media: Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps - James Bond. No John Barry, but still.
Fruitcake Lady Remembered. Thanks Stadius.
Reason for 2008 Ford Truck Recall. I dunno, looks cool to me.

I can't wait for the next episode of Penumbra to come out so I figured I'd give the demo a try.

After checking out the demo yesterday, and reading about how it was a tech demo, I decided to purchase it online. I mean, it was only $20. I am loving it to far.

SST:
Last night I got to the point where I made the wick for the TNT and blew the rubble up, after I tried to go through the hole it crashed though. Had not tried it again since the crash as it was late, but I had quite a bit of other stuff running, so I am not to worried, stuff those really does some memory trading around

I think you mispelled 'slime' in there.

And congratulations on discovering the bold, red and underlined formating tags, as well as your mothers caps lock key.

Have a nice day now.

I noticed right off the bat the differences between the demo and the full product. So if any of you are teetering I'd like to say the full game is significantly better than the demo.

It really isn't a demo proper but a tech demo which received such a good reception they improved it and made it a full game [well episodic game but hey it's just 4 guys].

Speaking of new gaming experiences... picked up Silent Hunter 4 for my b-day (was either that or Stalker), and have to say never playing a sub-sim before (except a bit of AquaNox and that other sub-game before it where you were part of a shruken race oh hell can't remember the name of it). Anyway, so far it's actually been not to bad. The tutorials are pretty much worthless, but thank god I'm a quick learner and the Ubi Forums.
Now if I could only find other online players to see how badly I suck, THEN it'd be fun

I'm surprised that wasn't listed as a selling point.

Heh, the demo is indeed pretty fun. I might just get this over the digital for $19.

Opening drawers has never been so immersive and fun.

I'm surprised that wasn't listed as a selling point.

I think he just wants attention.
Or help. Or maybe he just wants to troll. Either way, there's not much I can do to help so I don't want to hear the cries for it. So once again it's time for the FuckTard filter (tm) and another nod of thanks to Camaro76

It seems clear from his posts he's going through some sort of problems, but that's no reason to irritate the rest of us.

I think he just wants attention.

So I emailed Blue on his behalf.

wasrad, everything you said was true. There is no point to life.

Did he just outline the new plot for System Shock 3?

He sounds like SHODAN's cousin.

that means it takes time and effort to find them!

Seconded there. Occasionally you can indeed find those true gems. I downloaded the demo to Penumbra and plan to give that thing a try tonight!

It's not like you have an extraordinary number of titles to choose from, unfortunately.

True. But that means it takes time and effort to find them!

I unfortunately have not been able to keep up with the Adventure game genre as much as I would like.

Thanks Sepharo.

I just beat Penumbra: Overture

I highly highly recommend it to everyone, especially adventure game fans. The game is beautiful, immersive and damn scary at times. And the control scheme is pretty awesome too. To swing an object, turn a wheel, open a door, or open a drawer you hold click on it and realistically move your mouse in the direction of the movement.Opening drawers has never been so immersive and fun.

Perfect mix of puzzle solving, exploration, and physics. The combat is horrible but you can just run right by the few enemies or hide with the stealth mode.

SUPPORT INDEPENDENT DEVELOPERS... SUPPORT THE ADVENTURE GENRE... BUY THIS GAME.

Oh and if you machine can handle it I highly recommend cranking the graphics as high as they go. The game is just awesome looking.

Edit: Forgot to add that this developer is a FOUR man team.
