The C&C 3 Support Forums now offer details on a planned version 1.2 patch for Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars (thanks Ant and CNCDen) to address a number of issues with the RTS sequel (story). Word is:
We realize that the launch of Command & Conquer 3 hasn’t been completely smooth, and while some initial bumps are to be expected for most software releases, we want you to know that we’re actively working on addressing all the issues that are being reported online as possible in the form of a 1.2 patch, which we intend to release in the next 12-24 hours.

Funny how these bumps don't happen nearly as often on consoles and I'm not even a console fanboy. But more and more I'm gravitating to polished games just to see what it's like to play a game that isn't in beta shape.

As with most EA fare, advice is to buy the game several weeks or months (or with the BF series, years) after the release so you get a complete product instead of a beta thing that you're constantly waiting for the next patch for before its playable.

Hmm, EA usually abandons patch support after a month. Though, to be fair, I haven't experienced any major issues with their games. Balancing issues, sure, but not stability/bugs.

That can only be the case if you don't play any EA games.

Well, I've played all the NFS games, C&C games and pretty much everything that isn't Sims-related. It seems like most people judge EA's general level of polish based on the BF games. I'd say that has more to do with DICE than EA.

NFS: Most Wanted was a friggin master-piece in my opinion. Sure, it didn't have realistic driving characteristics and had the whole invincibility thing, but it was fun as Hell. Also, no bugs :-)

C&C 3 is definitely fun as hell. Sure, the maps aren't huge like Sup Comm but they're big enough to keep things interesting. Unfortunately I'm still running into the occasional bug, but only 1 of them has stopped me from completing a mission (and it worked after patching).

I'm not a big fan of EA in general, and hate how they'll drop support for a game pretty quickly, but some of their games are pretty good.

I really never had much problems with EA games and even though they always say there's a ton of patches and a ton of bugs, I rarely run into any. NFSMW was a good game which I definitely enjoyed.

Well EA seems pretty responsive and responsible this time around with this game. They also seem to want to genuinely foster a community around this game. With the rankings and the telestrator/commentator support built in. If the game is good and back to CnC roots, I'm not complaining.

I agree that the retards who yell "OMG EA = teh bugz" are, well, just that... fucking tards. Even the Battlefield games are not as bugged as people make them out to be. The bugs that are in the Battlefield games would never even be noticed by any honest players. The real problem is the asshole exploiters who ruin it for everybody else.
I'm not saying that I like all of EA's games or how they milk their franchises etc but they are definitely a shining example as far as the polish of their games is concerned.
Anyone who is yelling "lolz bugz" at the sight of an EA game is a fucktard parrot who just repeats the same crap that he's read some place else and probably even thinks he looks cool doing it when in reality he's making himself look like a brainless piece of shit.

EA is a pile of shit company that only gives out half-decent games. Plus they spit out mediocre sports games as well as NFS every year... kind of a tradition for them now.

Who is worse? A Company releasing a shitty sports game every year, or the people who buy them EVERY YEAR?!?

Neither. I honestly don't get what people's fucking problem is with EA's release policy. There are reviews and demos out there so everyone can inform themselves beforehand whether a new release of Madden or FIFA or NHL or whatever interests them enough to shell out $50-$60. Anyone who isn't a complete moron will quickly figure out that it makes sense to wait 2-3 years between the games if you really want to experience any substantial improvements. I don't think that EA is selling the same game to the same people every year. It's probably just people running on different schedules (person A buying Madden every even year and person B buying a new Madden every odd year). Well, and then there's the hardcore fanatics who just always must have the latest player data so they can't just skip a release. So what? EA is just satisfying a demand here. It's not like they are forcing anyone to buy their yearly updates. Anyone bitching about this is just making themselves look like a retarded anti-corporate-just-because commie cunt.

Didn't they say this patch would be out late April? Now it's today/tomorrow? That's nice!

No, this isn't the patch they were planning to release in April. This is another patch that was made to resolve some of the severe multiplayer bugs that are in the game right now.
