Out of the Blue

Today is the last day of winter here in the Northern Hemisphere. True to that it is pretty mild out there, and while there's still a healthy coating of snow, this is melting off. We've still got some harsh weather in the future forecast though, so I guess the groundhog was wrong this year.

Gotta love city life - 2100 hours Saturday.

Shots fired in our alley and 2 males running southbound.
Cops just drive through about 10-15 minutes later after the neighbor called it in, didn't stop and get out, nothing.

Sunday, I am walking the dogs - oh, look at that, 2 shell casings in the alley. huh, and oh, look at that, that house with the squatters in it has 2 holes in the back. Great.

Going to be an interesting summer here in Minneapolis.

Pee in an air sickness bag, get a flight voucher.

Airline toilet not working kind of makes me wonder if there are exceptions to letting a plane fly due to distance. I could see an airline not repairing a toilet for a flight between New York or Boston, or Chicago Denver, but from say...Atlanta to Japan? Bleh.

exceptions to letting a plane fly due to distance

I read somewhere (didn't look at this article, may be in there) that due to the short duration of this flight (+/- 1 hr, I think) they didn't want to inconvenience all the flyers with delays, so they chanced it. Still only cost them one flight voucher.

You must be one of the morons that think if we take guns away from the good guys the bad guys won't have them!?

“You won’t get gun control by disarming law-abiding citizens. There’s only one way to get real gun control: Disarm the thugs and the criminals, lock them up, and if you don’t actually throw away the key, at least lose it for a long time... It’s a nasty truth, but those who seek to inflict harm are not fazed by gun controllers. I happen to know this from personal experience.” —Ronald Reagan, 1983

Actually, I was referring not only to that, but to the whole Iran Contra deal, and his twilight years...

Obviously our... problems... stem from more than just guns.

Look at Switzerland, they have a very high gun count per capita [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_politics_in_Switzerland] yet their gun-related crime pales in comparison to the US.

  • Do I own a gun? No
  • Do I feel that too many people (smart and stupid) have guns? Yes
  • Do I think strict gun control will do much against crime? No
  • Will I even pretend to know of any solutions? No

I also don't think Switz' motto is "give us your weak, your unwanted, your criminals, freeloaders, and assholes that think they can come here and change everything even when they are the minority and the ACLU is in their pocket."

But I digress.

America: "Everyone has the right to succeed, but if you don't, the Dems will yank Social Security funds and pay illegal alien's benefits."

Really Bats, I didn't know you lived in the city. I figured by the talk of last season's squirrel hunt that you had a big back yard out in the 'burbs.

In my area? Doesn't happen.
According to my neighbor - who has been in the same house 20 years.

"This has never happened in the 20 years I have been here, and this past year with the new rentals, it has gotten really bad"

I have spent the AM on the phone with a 2nd precinct Sgt. and 311 trying to get some things taken care of. (311 in Minneapolis is used for complaints for everything that is not 911 - http://www.911dispatch.com/info/311_page.html)

Nope - Nordeast baby!
uh, yeah, heh. I am breaking a little city code by shooting the squirrels with my bb gun. But when you have 9mm rounds being fired in the alley and the cops just drive through, I don't think I am too worried about my bb gun activities. Shit, I might as well pull out the .22

It would probably take the big bore Smith & Wesson 500 that deadgoon, MrGrosser, and I shot last weekend to get anyone's attention these days!
