You're right, I was indoctrinated with beliefs I had no way of consciously countering through learning and self-discovery until I reached an age that I was able to. I'm now an agnostic and have been for about 11 years. My mother became an atheist several years ago. My father still believes in Judaism, but he seems to practice it more out of tradition than anything else.

We are shaped by society and those around us, yes. My statement was perhaps a bit too absolute, and since I firmly believe that nothing is absolute, I should have chosen a better one. What I really wanted to point out was that while I and many others experience monumental self-evolution throughout their lives, venomhed doesn't seem to. But hey, maybe he used to love jews and through some form of self-discovery himself he now hates them. I don't know. Oh, and for the record, I too think that religion in itself is a poison. By its very nature it is divisive. And in a world where the nature of human beings is to find as many ways to be divisive as possible, something that uses the supernatural to justify further divisiveness is not needed anymore. Another "weed," if you will. There's spiritualism, and then there's religion. The former is all we really need. I'm not even sure the latter has anything to do with the former anymore.

If they banned Manhunt, they'd definitely ban any game with realistic gore and dismemberment. Or, at the very least, heavily censor the aforementioned features, which correlates with my original point.

Ummm ... I don't know where you're getting your information from, but games banned in Australia when explicit sex and/or violence is used. So far very few games have been refused rating. GTA:SA was pulled because of Hot Coffee, but was put back on the shelves (same as the US). Postal was banned for gratuitious and needless violence, as as Manhunt. Phantasmagoria (all those years ago) was banned for a rape scene. The only dubious banning I can think of was the recent Leisure Suit Larry ... probably a good thing anyway, but you can't really ban things for just being bad taste. The point is that games aren't banned in Australia "left and right"; very few games are actually refused rating in Australia.

I'm not saying I agree with the act of refuals of rating. I'm a huge proponent of an R-18 rating so that games so rated are only sold to adults. As it happens, games rated MA-15 may not be sold to minors over here, at the risk of huge fines. Personally, I see nothing wrong with that at all. I'd prefer that a 10 year old not be able to wander into a store and just buy GTA over the counter; they should have a "responsible adult" purchase it for them ... in which case the responsibility rests with that person.

If JT just stuck to that kind of line, I don't see the issue anyway. As it happens, he's just a complete nut-job that deserves anything the US legal system can throw at him.

While I agree completely that nazism should have been purged from society long ago, so should religion. Religion, pick one, anyone, perhaps bushissm can be exhonorated but other than that, pick any religion, and count the bodies.. which line of thought has been responsible for more deaths, christianity or nazism? judaism or nazism?...

Either way, this isn't a defence for nazism, racism, or any other rediculous way of putting people in quality groups based on race / culture etc. I'm just kind of sick of people attacking one of them while subscribing to another, which has far more deaths attributed to it.

Oh my. I can only imagine how delightful those games would have been with proper gore. Imagine it: A huge ball of bloody, twisted flesh and random sharp objects, rolling through a city while tiny little pedestrians scream in horror at their impending doom. If you look at the ball closely enough, you can still see the tiny limbs of survivors, flailing and twitching in agony. Though technically, nothing in those games get squished. They just become part of the ball. What a pity.
