Playing the demo is the best way to go provided a demo is given.

Actually, playing the full version is the best way to go.

This is the same system that has 2 out of 10 defective units?

Why did you start talking about the 360 all of a sudden?

Let's not forget the fact that most games 'journalists' have writing skills that likely couldn't even get them admitted to the local community college...

Vista Gaming: Nay.

The only thing that would make me switch is Crysis, as long as it doesn't suck.

EA still has plenty of time to put ingame ads into the game or some sort of rank system for multiplay that requires special paid servers.

Since all reviews are subjective I don't think there is any one "true solution" to whatever the problem might be. Either you like the writing style of a reviewer or you don't.

Playing the demo is the best way to go provided a demo is given.

I'm not sure where to start with this, as it should be pretty clear to most people of average intelligence or better that a review of anything is nothing more than one person's opinion about the item or object in question. This is why one should always read multiple reviews on a particular title before purchasing it. Better yet, play the demo, if one is available, or go rent the game before you buy it.

It would have been nice if some type of solution had been offered to this perceived problem, if it is indeed a problem exists at all. Given the sheer number of review sites that are not household names, I seriously doubt that the blanket statements made in this article can be applied in the universal manner in which the author seems to think they need to be applied. Also, using a 1 - 5 scale, but including .5 scores, is the same as a ten-point scale.

I'll summarize the 'Why Video Game Reviews Suck' article.

Reviewers get paid to do reviews. Reviewers aren't always objective. Reviewers can be paid not to be objective.
Reviewers might work for a company directly.
Reviewers have it easy, nobody is checking their scoring systems.
Fans might actually trust what a reviewers says, despite that today, the reviewer was bitten in the testicles by a Chihuahua and has a hate on for God of War 2 as a result. Incoming Bad Review.

It's no secret that reviews are often padded one way or the other.
Siskel & Whoever, Top Gear, and any other professional TV personality who reviews games typically sways against popular opinion with a good reason.
This is to illustrate that they can. Not that they care, but that they can. If this doesn't make sense, consider for a moment, what would happen if for a week straight, the reviewer actually couldn't find anything wrong with a product. What if the reviewer had nothing but good things to say.
We'd think they were lying.
Likewise if every product for a straight week was BAD. We'd think the same thing.

Tough gig. I'm cutting this short because nature is calling.
Hopefully my point is made...

Windows Live: Will PC gamers start paying to play PC games online even though it's been free for almost 30 years?

Windows Live: Will Microsoft Murder an Industry?

Had to add: Why is it so exciting that Microsoft is "BOTHERING" to do this. They just figured out now that networking stuff together is a good thing or something?
The technology didn't allow it previously or something?
People have enough toys now that they can or something?
What the hell?
Why is it such a buzz term? Live this, Live that.

If I stack crap, nobody cares.
But if I stack it really high, that makes it special?
It's still crap. It's still expensive, stinky, juicy, runny, crap.
This is the same system that has 2 out of 10 defective units? The one that started out with about 5 out of 10 defective units? The one that overheats the hard drive? Despite what people may read about hard drive overheating being fixed, it's not. EB Games and Gamespot still receive many 360's per month with various issues, not the least of which is defective hard drives.

Now because you can network this expensive crap to an operating system that many are calling crap; now this console is something special?
I don't get it.
People don't pay attention to quality anymore?

The network thing IS cool! Don't get me wrong. I'm glad somebody is doing something with it. As I've stated before though, it would be better if all the companies worked together. Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, and even Apple! What with all their iCrap, I'm sure these goliaths of the electronic entertainment industry could get something even better than this Live going. Because then it would be true cross platform, not just from Closed Windows to Open Windows.
It wouldn't be a masked LIE.
It would be going from Macintosh to PC to PS3 to 360 to Wii
to Cellphone or something.

That's cross platform.

The 360 runs on a diluted version of Windows (it sure as fuck ain't specially tuned!).
What's cross platform about that?
That's like saying when I plug my mini ATX with Windows 98 into my network, it's now a cross platform network!

Yeesh.
