I bought my first series 2 from TiVo. It worked great for about 2 years and then died. The odyssey began there. I ended up going through 6 (yes six) refurbished units in one summer. I bought another one at Best Buy with the full replacement guarantee after that. When I got the 7th replacement from TiVo I installed my own bigger HD and imaged it with InstantCake and it's been fine since. Their support was horrible. Every time they would make me run through the entire diagnostic routine and I would get transferred up the chain (usually took about 2 hours of phone/hold time) to an "engineer" (not what I would call them) who could actually do the RMA. This crappy support is the main reason I didn't buy the HD unit when it came out. I'm waiting for it to get cheaper and then I'll just get it from Best Buy or someplace else with a full walk-in/walk-out replacement guarantee.
