I dont feel forced to upgrade. I upgrade when Im damn good and ready at my own free will.
I understand that, and pretty much do the same.
Hell.. I'm never upgrading to Vista. I'm never buying DX10 exclusive games. It's a nice cutoff for me as far as my "hobby" goes. I have a collection of plenty of games dating back to the DX7 era through now to keep me happy.
But that doesn't dismiss the issue that most people that want to play a modern game, can't because of the constant
steep incline of hardware minimum reqs.
I have no issues with game devs pushing the envelope as far as graphics go... but at the same time they are cutting off their own market with ridiculous levels of minimum hardware reqs. (the low end)
Most people buy a piece of shit Dell with integrated graphics... that has no Graphics slot. The ones that do have a graphics slot... go out an buy some cheap budget card (which is tons better than integrated), and the modern games STILL run like shit.
The industry bitches about integrated graphics, and doesn't even support the budget level cards.
What's wrong with this picture?
They cut off their own market. I have no sympathy for them, sorry. They are doing it to themselves, as far as the PC games market is concerned.
As for the 486 comment... you are fairly ignorant. I have near top of the line equipment. I'm just tired of
constantly having to upgrade it, and that it getting more expensive, and that it's lasting over less of a period of time. So yes... Vista and DX10 are a godsend for me, thank you.
