In my humble opinion, the spacing seems to do no more than increase the size of the page without adding additional content.
It's similar to when one of my students hands in a paper that has clearly had the margin size, font size, and spacing increased enough to meet the page requirement without having to do any additional writing. It's an overabundance of blank space; In other words, it looks padded.

I like the spacing as well, much easier to sort thru the articles...
