Blazing Angels: Secret Missions Announced

Ubisoft announces Blazing Angels: Secret Missions, the upcoming sequel to Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII. The aerial combat sequel exploring the ever-popular world of experimental weapons in the works at the end of World War II will be released for Games 4 Windows (PC) and Xbox 360 this spring:
SAN FRANCISCO - January 30, 2007 - Today Ubisoft, one of the world's largest video game publishers, announced that Blazing Angels® Secret Missions will launch on the Xbox 360(TM) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Games 4 Windows®. Scheduled for a spring 2007 release, Blazing Angels® Secret Missions is the follow-up to the squadron-based flight combat game Blazing Angels® Squadrons of WWII.

Blazing Angels® Secret Missions shows World War II from a different perspective - that of an elite pilot who is part of a secret team. In the game, the player will undertake some of the most dangerous missions in exotic locations all over the globe. As an elite pilot, the player goes from one great adventure to another, while battling the most lethal experimental weapons of the Third Reich. The squad's mission is to prevent the ultimate weapon from being built. To help players in this quest, they have at their disposal an assortment of highly experimental aircraft and weaponry. Blazing Angels® Secret Missions comes straight out of the history books of World War II's most top secret projects.

Key features of Blazing Angels® Secret Missions include:

Living, Breathing World - Built on all-new, cutting-edge visual technology, the world of Secret Missions is more believable and involving than ever. Fly above hills and mountains, navigate through treacherous mountain passes and dogfight in the clouds with enemies. Take part in large-scale battles through various conditions: darkness, rain, snow, and air turbulence.

Diverse and Unusual Scenarios - Secret Missions takes players around the world, from Paris, Rome and Moscow to exotic locations like Rangoon and Cairo and the highest mountain ranges of the Himalayas. Each mission will bring its own surprises, twists and unique challenges.

Prototype Technology - Players will have access to some of the most advanced and unusual aircraft and weapons of WWII, as well as access to a huge assortment of weapons, including high-velocity cannons and early guided missiles.

Fast Paced Multiplayer Action - Multiplayer features free-for-all, co-op and squad-based play, including the brand new Capture the Flag and Epic Battle modes, the latter pitting two teams of players against each other in a large-scale battle with conquerable bases and objectives that can be destroyed in order to gain the upper hand on the opponent.

The way I see it, as long as game players (customers) are willing to purchase games as soon as they come out instead of waiting to find out some more info about them, that's just telling the publishers we are okay with games released in this fashion.

This is why I pirate games first and buy them once/if they are polished, finished and, of course, worthy of my money.

Well, I could understand the demo having stuff like that as it was a port and something probably based on not 100% complete stuff (as many demos nowadays). But, if the full version (like the manual/etc.) STILL had stuff like that it in...shame on Ubisoft for that.

The way I see it, as long as game players (customers) are willing to purchase games as soon as they come out instead of waiting to find out some more info about them, that's just telling the publishers we are okay with games released in this fashion. And, if the PC market is any indication of the direction the console market "could" head...get ready for more games to be released in less than complete states (since they can rely on patches to fix things).

Anywho, the XBOX version is lots of fun in multiplayer as you can play adversarial or co-op together.

Bummer to hear the original PC version was in such a state. I have the XBOX (original, not 360) version and have found it to be loads of fun for some quick arcade style multiplayer action.

The first game may have sucked but Ubi could redeem themselves with a good sequel. That is, if they actually put some effort into the port. And wtf? "Games 4 Windows"? I thought it was Games For Windows.

I can't believe I am reading this. UBI really screwed over the PC community with the 1st Blazing Angels game, abandoned support because they couldn't fix it (as in unable to recognise joysticks)no rudder control--the list is endless on this POS! The 1st game in this series was dropped by 99.9999% of the PC community as soon as they realised how bad they had been f'd over by UBI!!!!-Is it April the 1st already?

StarForce has been completely abandoned by Ubisoft.

I wish I could discuss this topic w/you, but unfortunately, I never played either game...

As much as my friends and I would enjoy playing another flightsim, we don't let StarForce anywhere near our hard drives...

Hopefully, since it's being published by Ubisoft, it'll follow the footsteps of other recent Ubisoft releases and use any protection method other than StarForce.

There is nothing good about this game. The PC version was so badly ported that even the tutorials referred exclusively to using gamepad controls. The voice acting was horrendous and the missions were idiotic as almost everything was on the clock for no reason at all. I love mission-based flight games (old school Wing Commander nut) and usually will give them a really wide berth as there aren't many of them, but I rented this for the Xbox 360 and couldn't finish it. The objectives got so ridiculous and your wingmen would make the same stupid comments over and over and over again so I just gave up. Unless they completely overhaul the game (likely this sequel will just be new missions plugged into the same engine), pass on it. Trust me.

Which game had the most offensive voice-acting? The original Blazing Angels, or Codename Eagle? Discuss.

Did this game really warrant a sequel? I guess if you release a game on enough platforms, it'll eventually make enough money to fund another installment.
