Many development teams have learned important lessons from previous attempts to bring PC games to the console, though Deus Ex 2 is an infamous example. One of the main things we are doing differently is that we are leading our development efforts with the 360. Therefore all decisions on HUD and gameplay situations are made on the 360 and brought over to the PC to avoid the situations you are thinking about.
Is this supposed to make us feel better or worse about the game?? It certainly doesn't make me feel better about it.
As someone who is a big fan of Irrational Games and System Shock 2 (one of my favorite games of all time), and who has been very excited about BioShock since it was announced, this is very disheartening to hear. The HUD is being designed for the 360, and will then be ported to the PC version?!? I'm not sure they've learned any lessons about porting games across platforms at all.
It sounds as though the person who wrote this seems to think people were disappointed in Deus Ex 2 because it was ported from the PC to the Xbox (which it wasn't, I don't believe). I think the vast majority of people who were disappointed in Deus Ex 2 were disappointed because of the limitations and differences of the console, which had a strong negative impact on the PC version of the game (and indeed the game as a whole).
