Ok I’ll bite space captain.

First off I am not sure what your referring to and what fps games you have been playing, but I am not aware of any atm which create a living world, i.e. reacts to your PCs decisions and actions.
This includes building alliances and making enemies based on whom you sell to, shoot, deal with, refuse to deal with and so on, all of which are present in a real RPG.

Secondly afaik Boiling Point was an RPG, though you couldn't really choose or effect the ending, though many choices through out the game effected the world.

Now really doubt your basing your statement on the single issue of fps view, since I see you on real RPG sites so I know you know better.

I haven't seen any information about the change to fps, mostly since I am not looking like many people, I just threw up my hands and decided to deal with it if it ever gets released.

The obviously best example is Deus Ex (peer of Boiling Point) was an RPG but you could call it a fps because the default view was fps, but hardly any fps people played it since it had an actual story with choices and decision which most fps player don't bother with and actually annoy them.

Trust me, most of the names I have been called you can't translate in any language...they're not even real words as much as a succesion of violent images.

I was listening to the GFW podcast on 1up and they had some hands on with the game. Sounded like it had a lot of potential. More like Sci-Fi Oblivion than just another FPS. I'm looking forward to it in a big way.

True but this also dabbles in a taste of the end of the world theme. What is nice is that you can "pull out" of the chernobyl accident and go back to the "Real world". However, imagine if you couldn't, if the whole world was like this or worse, a la Road Warrior. Survival of the fittest.

I would really like to see these types of games and this theme to take over for 2-4 years, much like the WW2 craze did, which was fun, but now beaten to death.

Rhialto, you clearly haven't been paying attention - I think you'll find it's actually March 22nd for US and 23rd of March for Europe.

March 22nd for US and March 23 for Europe.

Yet another example of how we Americans like to change everything when it worked perfectly fine as it was.

If you have a dentist appointment next month, would you be more likely to say:

(A) "I have a dentist appointment on February 15th."

Or

(B) "I have a dentist appointment on the 15th of February."

I'm guessing Americans go with (A) most of the time.. the shortest sentence, so it ends up being written that way as well.

How everyone is acting as if Stalker premise is so new and innovative. Ever hear of Autoduel, Wasteland or seen movies like Mad Max, Road Warrior? Cheers to the Stalker to the for revitalizing a genre that even in the past was hardly touched.

In some parts of the world (not America), the day is put before the month when writing dates (i.e. Day/Month/Year instead of Month/Day/Year). Yet another example of how we Americans like to change everything when it worked perfectly fine as it was. But I get your joke - an invalid release date would be unsurprising given this game's history of delays.

Screw WW2 and anything D&D. Post apocalyptic end of the world topics are so fitting for todays REAL world with the war and proven global warming. We are so close, closer than ever before, to actually realizing a bleak reality on this planet. Let a game show us that, it all its grim glory, so that we can see, just maybe, what we are all putting at stake here.

Same here, but I read something a while ago that said the large, open environment originally proposed for this game engine had been removed from the feature set. From what I gather, it will be more like HL-2, which while not really a corridor shooter, was more or less linear.

Maybe I'm wrong (hopefully), but I'm waiting for a DEMO and reviews before picking up this one.

i cant believe some of you people think this is an RPG even after all 6 years of continuous hype about this game... its FPS - with RPG elements.. been that way since inception

its as much RPG as Boiling Point was

the real question is will it be extremely enjoyable to play or complete garbage? somehow i doubt there will be much middleground

I dont't understand why I should stop caring just because it took them a long time to get the game done. I know they cut out a lot of features, but Stalker still sounds like one of the most ambitious FPS games of all time.
