EverQuest: The Buried Sea Announced

This press release announces the next expansion for SOE's MMORPG, which will mark the 13th (or baker's dozernth, for the superstitious) add-on since the game's launch. The game will be available by digital distribution only, about one month from today. Here's a bit:

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Online Entertainment LLC (SOE), a global leader in the online games industry, today announced EverQuest® The Buried Sea(TM), a new expansion for the Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG), EverQuest. EverQuest The Buried Sea will only be available via digital download beginning February 13th, for the suggested retail price of U.S. $29.99.

"As the new producer on EverQuest I am very excited to have this tremendous opportunity to work on such a storied franchise, as well as be part of a development team that has delivered successful expansions time and time again over the past eight years for our many loyal EQ players," said Clint Worley, Producer, Sony Online Entertainment. "As the thirteenth expansion for EverQuest, The Buried Sea will continue to challenge players with two new worlds to explore, ship-to-ship combat on the open seas against swash-buckling pirates, and a variety of new missions created especially for this expansion."

9. For all of you people Jan 21, 2007, 02:52 Dryc o
For all of you people talking about, "WoW is so cool, EQ sucks. I can't believe they are putting out ANOTHER expansion. Everquest people are ruining their lives, but no one else is."

Honestly, Everquest is THE most successful game in it's Genre. and i do not consider WoW in the same Genre, because it does not cater to the same type of player. in what experience i have had with WoW, i have seen entire guilds full of people that have speech impediment, no feeling for large group raid tactics, and want cartoon like graphics in an overcrowded, undermanned world. Not only that, WoW has spent how many millions of dollars in advertising itself? It is an e-whore only building momentum for the illiterate neglected brain children of an undereducated and morally corrupt societal sludge gutter, and overseen by none other than the cash eating slaughter bison that will ultiumately be sacrificed and fed to the corporate leaders when it becomes clear that pumping any more into the project will lower their profit margin farther than they want for continued growth.

but enough about WoW. you play WoW, you play a fad. you play everquest, you play a game worth playing. again, the most successful massively multiplayer online graphical multi user dynamic dungeon style gaming situation on the internet to date. i will get this expansion, even though i haven't been able to play consistently throughout the years i have played since 1998. my down times were spent in a war zone, or otherwise captured by the government's wasting of my time in uniform. but i just wanted to flame the retards whining about "oh why not another expansion for wow, or EQ2?

in a nutshell, your games suck, or else the people that run them can't stand to put enough time into them to make them better. and everquest is personally overseen by a team of people that care about their game, and will continue to keep it at the TOP of the MMO family.

strength in numbers means nothing if you're facing an a-bomb. WoW is only attribution to the amount of profoundly stupid people there are in this world.

"I LOVE the concept but EQ is just such a crummy game to actually play."

I played EQ a lot longer than I did WOW.

It sucks that EQ is getting ships, sailing, and ship to ship combat and not WoW. I LOVE the concept but EQ is just such a crummy game to actually play. Oh well I guess we'll have Pirates of the Burning Sea.

Havent played since Kunark as well lol, but I keep seeing these expansions, its not like the world stop having babies, so they will continue to roll out these.

when I was young and naive I loved EQ and im sure newbies will get hooked on it like I did, however I dont imagine ppl will by this because they need more content or are just that addictive no the world population is growing by LEAPS and bounds and all you have to do is release product for young ppl and youll eventually get rich doing so.

Alot of ppl laughing at this stuff but while we laugh they getting richer by the day with this devils tool.

remember its not about us anymore, its about them...2007 Quote from Cheese

This is amazing. It takes them forever to crank out a single EQ2 expansion per year yet these EQ expansions are coming out left and right.

Thirteen expansions? I thought it was 19 at last release, but maybe we double counted some of them. In all seriousness, I played for a year back when Kunark was new, but I can't even fathom that people are still playing. I hope it's not more than an hour or two a week, and mixed in with other activities, in which case it's no big deal. But for the desperately entrapped, playing 30-40 hours a week or more, this has probably had a very damaging and lasting effect on their lives.

That's eight years of life, veterans.

Isn't this like the mark of the devil or something?
