You know? I was thinking the same thing. Both movies and gaming had nothing this year. Odd... Sales would have been pretty good IMO.

The very same FDA that said it is ok for meat that contains steroids and antibiotics to be sold on shelves.

The sad part is they want to be able to have this same cloned meat on store shelves without the need of having a label on the package containing the information "Cloned".
Reducing us the consumers to assume the food we PAY for to be ok for consumption.

After watching videos regarding chickens and how they are kept I will only eat free range birds and the eggs. Now I have to worry if the chicken has been cloned.

FDA is too tied into big business. It is no longer about making sure we are fed properly with safe foods, it's more about bang for the buck, and it is so obvious who is receiving the bucks right now.

The PS3 and the Wii both essentially came out for Christmas, those are pretty big.

Nothing really big for PC games, but ehh, got a lot to look forward to coming up. ET:QW , Crysis, HL2:E2, GalCiv II: Dark Avatar, and even Spore later. Looks to be a great year for PC gaming.

I need to upgrade my rig soon!

When you are going to throw around comments like that, you should at least have a clue what you are talking about. As most of the major food companies have been pressuring the FDA against cloned animals for awhile now.

In this case, the big business has been supporting your ideal of cloned meat = no.

I just love people that think the idea of big business is evil incarnate, when it is the consumer that puts them their and keeps them their. If you must say big business is evil then you must say they are just demon pawns from the true devil, the population at large.

To Quote the article.

"Those in favor of the technology say it would be used primarily for breeding and not for steak or pork tenderloin.

Cloning lets farmers and ranchers make copies of exceptional animals, such as pigs that fatten rapidly or cows that are superior milk producers."

This is big business. These ranchers and farmers are the bigger companies that have the several thousands of livestock on thier property.
I assume Enahs that you are someone who will eat farmed salmon as well.

But in the end it will be people like you who really don't care what you shove down your gullet.

If I were to get an impression from all the co-ops I see around the state that there is some amount of opposition to the bigger operations. In others words the ranchers and farmers who work under under some larger corporation are just basically workers, they probably don't even own the land being used for crops and cattle.

I do not eat any salmon at all!

This is big business. These ranchers and farmers are the bigger companies that have the several thousands of livestock on thier property.

No, these ranchers and farmers are individuals that sell their product to the big business, and the cheaper it cost them the more profit they make.

If you want to quote the article to try and prove stuff:
Approval of cloned livestock has taken five years because of pressure from big food companies nervous that consumers might reject milk and meat from cloned animals.

The truth is most big companies are against it/question it because all it does is risk alienating the people who buy their product while providing a marginal monetary benefit.

It is the farmers/ranchers on a smaller level (and by smaller, we are still talking huge farms here that contract for the big businesses) pushing for it, and just now that the FDA is claiming it is 100% safe are big companies starting to possibly accept it.

Thanks for trying to insult me, and using your fall back baseless comments to prove you have no clue what you are talking about, that you are just a hippie wanna be that is anti big business and will make up all the lies and BS they want to get your agenda across.

The truth lies in between what the big business and the anti big business people say. You clearly do not care about the truth though, just your skewed agenda and forcing your believes onto other people by whatever lies and tricker you can, because it is impossible for you to be wrong; and that only your opinion/view of the world is right.

"Thanks for trying to insult me" Hmm lets look at who replied to my post with words of insults.
My original post never had the word Enahs in it and yet YOU decided that i am one that needs to be told things with insulting words. Pretty lame..

And the hippie wanna be, thats a good one ! So your saying it is only hippies that worry about what they eat.
And how you relate hippies and nazis, now that makes sense.

I made my opinion regarding something I think is very bad for the food industry to get into. My jab at big business may be incorrect, but I see no other reason for this to be introduced. Especially in a country that scraps lots of leftovers off the plate into the garbage. Cloning is not needed, but once it's in place good luck in removing it.

Ignoring the rest of your posts Enahs, No point in feeding the troll as the troll only eats cloned foods.

Reading comprehension.

My first response to you was not insulting to you, other then confronting you with your mistakes; which you take as an insult. I did not say one thing about you personally.
You made generalizing comment about big business, and I made a generalizing comment about anti big business.

So your saying it is only hippies that worry about what they eat.
Yes, that is clearly what I am saying...
Reading comprehension.

I made my opinion regarding something I think is very bad for the food industry to get into.
Which I agree. I never said I was in favor of cloned meat. I in fact think some of the laws and regulations on meat as it is now are so stupidly unrestricted that it is almost laughable.

My jab at big business may be incorrect, but I see no other reason for this to be introduced.
So because you do not have a knowledge of the economics of the farming industry that gives you the right to just spread lies and go on and on uninformed about what you are talking about?

And how you relate hippies and nazis, now that makes sense.
No, I related your narrow view on the world, and willingness to use lies and misinformation to achieve your political agenda, with the Nazis.
Which I removed well before your post, before you or anybody said anything about it, as it was in bad taste and was no longer just me confronting your misinformation but actually attacking you. You can look at the time stamp of the edit and see it was done well before you said anything.

Ignoring the rest of your posts Enahs, No point in feeding the troll as the troll only eats cloned foods.
Yes please do ignore it, because it is easier to ignore the truth then to confront it.

Funny thing is... they eat irradiated beef in parts of europe, if I'm not mistaken, yet we're terrified of the idea in the states.

As for the farmed salmon comment, don't even bring that up. The state I'm living in, part of the old maritime economy was strictly salmon fishing. Now with EVERYONE and their mom refusing to eat farmed salmon for real and percieved ills, the business has undergone some huge and rather catastrophic changes, all due to overfishing of stock.

The ills of so many food additives, alterations, whatevers aren't always so clear cut as to give you cancer, cure all world hunger or whatever. There's good and bad to cloned food just as theres good and bad to gmos, etc etc. Just because something is wierd or unusual doesn't mean it's outright detrimental.

We're off to Florida in the morning for 4 days (back Sunday eve/night) to see Heather's mom. Don't know if I mentioned it or not, but she was released from the hospital just before Christmas... but she's headed into hospice care (at home first). Her liver and other systems are so far gone there's nothing that can be done.

In one way it's something of a relief as Heather and her aunt (mom's sister) can stop fighting Mom to try and get her to eat, to take her meds, to stop drinking (yes, she's still drinking), etc. -- it just doesn't matter now. But it's still sad, since she's only 57.

Anyway, hope everyone has a happy new year. Party, but drive safe damnit!

Best of luck / wishes to you and family Zathrus. As you say, sad though this is it's probably for the best.

As for farmed salmon, it's just as well people do farm salmon, otherwise the natural stocks would be gone in no time. It's one of the most annoying idiotic things we as a species seem to be doing - continually overfish until it's too late.

Not sure how the legislation works in the US, but the European fishing legislation is a fucking joke, and the joke will be on French and the Spanish when they wipe out all the fish in the seas. Greed and a refusal to equate demand with supply, that's all it is.
