Test Test Drive Unlimited

3DGamers and FilePlanet are jointly offering the opportunity to participate in the beta testing of Test Drive Unlimited, the next installment in the driving series. This is one of those exclusive dealies to allow entrée into a closed beta test, but only requires the free version of those sites' registration, and not a paid subscription. Update: It seems that a subscription is required here, but for some reason the pages say otherwise.

a logic is that IGN/Gamespy/Fileplanet is paying developers to have betatest on fileplanet.
actually it's not a logic but rather greed.

I've always been under the impression a developer would want dedicated testers and not limit their options by requiring their testers to have a paid subscription for a site that unrelated to their product.
I'm sure there's a logic there somewhere. I just havent found it yet

I remember the days when THEY gave US stuff to test their games. Seems like so long ago, but it really wasn't.

The latter.
It's always the latter.
Screw the subscription nazis.

On the bright side, the fact that they are actually having a beta test means that this probably won't be a completely half-assed port. Hell, it may even be better than the 360 version... or this could just be one of those "beta tests" which is actually just a demo and has no impact on the final product whatsoever.

Ya they say free sign up, but when I log in to either site they ask me to pick a paid subscription offer.

The note about the free registration being enough seems to be untrue. Both sites require you to have a paid subscription.
