So far so good. The game looks so much better than the original it's amazing! It is a GPU pig however, and I think there are some particle issues with ATI cards as some of the spells and meshes can look somewhat pixelated at times.
I set everything on max and it looked friggin awesome. Entirely unplayable (a step above slideshow mode), but really pretty. I'm now running everything at medium-high and it's very playable and still looks great. My specs in case anyone was wondering...
AM2 2.2Ghz duo core
2 gigs of OCZ 667 gold RAM
SATAII WD HD
MSI Mobo 1000FSB
LG 19" widescreen LCD
ATI X850 XT 256 meg vid card
Getting a new card in December so that should make a difference. I may pick up another 2 gigs of ram too, but I'd like to see this game on a 512 X1950 first. The camera is a bit sticky as some people have mentioned and I hope it gets worked out ASAP, apart from that it technically seems pretty solid.
Gameplay is fun. Tons of options for character creation. Items/equipment look great. Spells look super cool! Voice acting and story all seem top-notch so far. Already ran into some giths and the like and the game has definite elements of Planescape to it, which is nice. Anyway, just heading off to Neverwinter now so we'll see how the big city is looking. The dynamic lighting is killer too!
Fired up the toolset briefly to check it out. Looks complex, yet comprehensive. Will definitely take some time to see what it can do and how easy it really is to use.
Game (got the DVD version) comes with the DVD, a cd for a 7 day trial of DDO and a decent 177 page manual chock full of everything you need for the game.
Overall it seems really good initially and I axniously await seeing what the community will do with it for modules and persistent worlds. Anyhoo, back to the game!
