Out of the Blue

As always it was great fun seeing all the little ones in their costumes yesterday. As usual the local youth seem exceptionally nice and polite, there were copious thank yous, and there were several occasions where we had to remind them to take some candy because they were paying too much attention to the doggies. Hudson the wonder dog's Spider-Man costume was a particular hit with the many Spider-Men trick-or-treaters.

Well I can't update the current patch as it keeps timing out and the patch is nowhere out there yet. Bleh! I'll try the game out for now and see how she looks.

WOOO! I have NWN2 in my grubby little paws! Finished the install doing an update (83 megs). Will be back with a first impression in a while!

As I'm waiting for the patch - slow atm as the servers must be getting rammed like a cheerleader in the locker room - I've skimmed over the manual. In addition to the usual classes there's now a Warlock class! Booyah! And for the races all the usual ones are there but now they full support a whole slew of sub-races from those major categories like Deurgar, Deep Gnomes, etc. Some of the sub-races have level adjustments (meaning they advance more slowly).

In addition to this is the new Planetouched (better than priest touched I imagine, haha!) races (big ups to Planescape here folks). You have the Aasimar (good) and Tiefling (evil) sub-races. Think I'm gonna start with a Tiefling warlock.

Anyway, bbl with some impressions.

you thru, step by step, on d/l, install, setup and play of roms?

1. Go to the mentioned site and download a "goodset"
2. Go to the mentioned site and download an "emulator"
3. Extract the goodset to somewhere on your drive.
4. Extract the emulator somewhere.
5. Go to the exe file that is the emulator (where you extracted it) and run it.
6. Select 'File' and 'Open'
7. Open the directory where you extracted the goodset

You are done.
Config controls, and you will never leave your home again.

strich - if you have problems, drop me an e-mail.

I've been using emuparadise.org for my emuneeds

i've attempted to d/l emulators and roms before, but could never get them to work. i know it's problably not difficult, but does someone have a a good FAQ for the idiots out here that kind of walk you thru, step by step, on d/l, install, setup and play of roms? I'd love to get back and play some donkey kong, but i can never get it to work.

Goodsets are the "All or nothing" packs of roms; they include every single dump for a system. If you've got the Goodset you don't need to hunt through anything. I've been using emuparadise.org for my emuneeds, and to my knowledge they have a pretty good goodset collection.

Don't you people have GoodSets? I'd quite frankly rather play every game ever dumped from those consoles with STATESAVING...

Yup. Same here. Love it - but I have to check out this goodsets stuff - still looks like you have to hunt and peck through everything though. I mostly want the NES stuff (since I have a ton of carts anyway) - but haev a hard time keeping the good apart from the bad. Each time MAME does an "upgrade" all of them break.

Need to dig out all of my old MAME versions.

/edit: Also trying to find a great USB controller (not x-arcade - too pricey) but even something in single controller format. Anyone have anything cool?

My initial response to that list is that there should realy have been more SNES games on there.

Mine too, but then I realised that Nintendo would be wise to hold on to some of their heavy hitters for a rainy day. Can't go blowing their load all at once given they will need to fight the good fight amidst the battle that rages in HD between their competitors..

That's my take, at least. If I can think of any other metaphors to mix in there, I'll come back and edit this.

F-zero and simcity, I was at least expecting Mario world and zelda a link to the past, to be up there. Oh well I will remain hopefull for the future. And since we in Norway are still a month and eight days off from our release day. Still dont think I have the money needed to get the console, Zelda the old Snes type controller and some VC points...
I'l bet the Nintendo CEO's are going KACHINGG!
