My bad, Steph. Though your saying "wow enahs" does not make sense in this context, but what do I know.

Notice the use of a comma (,) Sally.

It means pause, as in a conversation, I was jabbin you in the arm and pointing and laughing at Creamy, saying "hey, look at this asswipe get all up tight" then saying what I said.

Sheesh.

I was just being silly while stating a fact. Right? You did say it was an air gun, hopefully you are not crazy enough to shoot a real gun at squirrels and miss and kill a neighbor?

I was asking who shit in HIS, not YOURS.

Geez.

Oh, and just for Creamy - I got another one this AM!

Then you neighborhood is full of overly sensitive and scared pussies, as he is using a BB/pellet gun (air gun). If he was using a “real” gun….he would have been arrested by now.

Finished Company of Heroes today so I thought I'd post my thoughts for anyone thinking of getting it. Simply put, I haven't had so much fun in a video game since HL2. It's not that the game is a huge revolution in the genre - it isn't. But it's because Relic have trimmed out the rather tedious parts of the RTS genre, and added some awesome bits. The engine is great, the graphics, sound (including voice acting, for once), story, are all great.

However the true awesomeness comes from the gameplay touches. Cover, flanking etc. all actually mean something. Suppressing fire, grenades, and so on actually do something. The tight unit cap keeps turtling and building up mega armies out of the question. There's only one real defensive structure so building an impenetrable fortress is also out. Often tight resources force you to explore and take on the Germans because your resources come from territorial control.

The shining star of the whole package, however, is the level design. Some missions are reminisicent of the Commandos games, some make obvious references to Band of Brothers and Saving Private Ryan. With a minor exception (ST:the Panther hunt) they are all great. Some are awesome - one which sticks out to my mind (very minor spoilers) has you taking a hill, but involves some great hedgerow fighting followed by taking over villages, watchtowers and other surprises, as you work your way up the hill surrounded by the corpses and craters of past attempts. I always like games where you feel part of the world (as opposed to the centre of it- think HL2 vs Duke Nukem) and CoH does this so very well you really feel part of a wider war effort. In an FPS this isn't so hard - characters etc can draw you in like a movie. But for the level of immersion I felt to come from an RTS, where by definition you're removed from the action, is testament to some really very well thought out design.

Minor problems - bizarre memory leakage (I think) means playing from a reloaded game can cause problems. The camera controls aren't exactly intuitive (but it doesn't really matter as 99% of the time you'll be in the default view). Occasional interruption from cutscenes can be annoying. The last mission is a bit of a let down (and far too easy) after the great previous ones. Some missions are too easy. The sniper / artillery combination is perhaps too powerful. It's probably something of a system hog. Unpatched, it doesn't support SLI very well (though the patch is available).

But in summary: believe the hype, this one is quite special.

</IMHO>

No offense or whatever, but if you shot off a gun in my neighborhood there would be about ten million cops and a few million Firefighters and whatnot breathing down your neck.

anyone load it yet?

I downloaded at on my home PC to do some testing. Don't want to trash IE6 at work yet because we'll still need it for the time being.

Turns out MS is going to auto install it as part of an update so we're going to have to patch (about 200 copies of) our CMS running on the live server to avoid interruption of service to our customers that may be using IE. No biggie though- I'm more happy that MS is "forcing" users to upgrade to IE7. IE 6 is so old and so much shit just doesn't work with it in terms of standards support. Alpha PNG is going to be a big one.

Does that guy actually kill squirrels?

Yes, he does. (to my friends 14 year old)

"And brags about it.?"

Yes.

'He kills them and puts his count on his tag?"

Yep.

What kind of person would do that?

A cop.

I understand that Americans are not like that, but whatever. It's just very strange to me. Someone that brags about killing tree rats.

Oh, I'm sure Canada has its share of rednecks who shoot cans off their porch too. You guys aren't that far north of us.
