FlatOut 2 Euro Patch

Empire Interactive Support now offers a new patch for FlatOut 2, updating the European edition of BugBear's racing sequel to version 1.2. It is warned that this update is not to be applied to the U.S. edition of the game. Thanks Frans.

It is added in the euro version patch. So is chat and a few other things.

This should let the euro and U.S. players race each other but I'm not sure.

Any word on whether or not the patch includes manual transmission?

A dev posted that the demo and the patch have already been sent to testing a while ago and they are just waiting to hear back.

I'm wondering what their next game is going to be. Flatout3 ? Some new title ?

Another idea for the patch would be an option to allow only subclasses of each class of car in multiplayer. For example, only that first group cars in street class. As it is now, it doesn't make sense to choose any but the fastest group of cars from each class. Most of the cars are wasted.

The transport truck is fun to use in races: it just busts up everything.

I agree about bonus cars. Also would like to see something that would give all the cars the same stats that way you don't have 8 Canyon's and then you can just pick a different car and not worry about 'what's best'.

Haven't played too much in the single player game as I mainly bought it for Multiplayerm and I enjoy the way the cars handle in FO2 much better then FO1. In FO1 if you screwed up it typically cost you the race.

The U.S. patch is coming.

A lot of modding work is sort of on hold until they release the U.S. patch. It sounds like the U.S. patch will contain some anti cheat protection too.

The thing that I would like to see most is the ability to choose which cars can and can't be used within a class or at least the ability to disable the bonus car for each class. That or changing the ai. The ai cars have a catch-up mode for all but the last lap. It gets a little absurd. disable catch up and just improve them.

I'm looking forward to a mod that sets the handling back to the way that it was in Flatout1. Flatout2 is a great game but the handling is just a little too arcade for my taste.

Have they released a North American patch yet? I had a few problems in multiplayer with randomly getting dropped to the desktop, but the singleplayer was fine (and fun).
