BF2 Patch Status [Aug 16, 2006, 10:16 am ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
The Patch 1.4 Statement from DICE ... on the EA Forums (thanks Ant) has
word that the release date for the next Battlefield 2 patch
(story) is now TBD, so clearly things have taken a turn for the
worse for a patch that was planned for release yesterday (story).
To help make up for the delay they have posted some patch notes outlining the
numerous planned bug-fixes, including another stab at the red/blue nametag bug
that has plagued the game since its release. The Battlefield team follows-up
this news with
a statement on what's up, and a warning about the leaked beta patch:
As many of you are now aware we have made the choice to take some extra time with the 1.4 patch before release. During our standard final processing of the 1.4 client update we came across an issue that, although it does not compromise stability, we felt needed to be addressed in order to meet our goal of improving the overall player experience with Battlefield 2. It has come to our attention that a beta version of the 1.4 client has leaked to the general public. It should be noted by players that this file is not final and being such could cause damage to players systems. We want to warn players to avoid the use of any client files that are not distributed by EA/DICE or one of our trusted partners. Once we have set a new schedule for release we will communicate this information to everyone.

why did they insist on the damn backend EA-run server stat holder?
i really wish, amongst other things, that they wouldve stole the campaign unlock mode found in ET.
i just hope that they learned from BF2 what not to do for 2142.. although, i can see how their blind fans would take whatever they were given.

Haha, surprise! I think it's funny they are further nerfing C4. Sure it was cheap as fuck when you could throw it, but it wouldn't have been a problem if guns were actually lethal and you didn't have to shoot someone 5 times to kill them. I don't see what the big deal is with having guns that actually kill in 1-2 shots when someone can bomb 5 people in an airplane with no threat of being shot down.

Why in the hell do I have to edit my exe to get a shoddy widescreen experience for this game...BF2 has WS native written all over it DAMN IT
I'd just like to see another map or 2 for Euro Forces that uses all of the new Aircraft/Heli's and Vehicles, instead of just 1 map that had all of them in the Booster Pack.
Does "more ranked content for players to enjoy" just refer to the new map? As in we can play it on ranked servers? Cuz when I saw that specific quote I was thinking "more weapon unlocks".
I think they explicitly said no more additional unlocks due to the memory required to load everything that's already in the game. I also remember reading that's why only the vanilla unlocks are available in BF2:SF.

They could do a "one up" on MSFT and just discontinue support to BF2 and focus 100% on BF2142, which I am sure they will do shortly.
