To be honest space captain I only got about 8fps outside with multiple enemies on a 6800GT / XP64 3200 / 1gb ram - I think 8fps must be the oblivion 'sweet spot' :-)

I'm thinking more that your system has an absolutely ridiculously large bottleneck somewhere. I get ~20/30 FPS in most places on my XP64 3500/1Gig/X800XL. Dips into the single teens sometimes.

Btw, if you're having large FPS problems outdoors, check the Mod forums for "Lower Poly Grass". That little thing alone gained me about 7FPS on average. It just replaces Beth's 20 poly grass model with one of 8 polys, and you really can't tell the difference anyways, unless you happen to look straight down on the grass.

So here's hoping they honour the original price.

Play.com does honour the original pre-order prices. I speak from experience.

We're sure this October release is for the English version, right?

I pre-ordered Gothic 3 from Play.com (in the UK) way back last year at £17.99. That gameplay.co.uk link has it at £24.99 and it's not listed on Play anymore though it is showing on my account as a pre-order. So here's hoping they honour the original price.

We're sure this October release is for the English version, right?

i was actually able to play Oblivion at 800x600 with most of the settings turned to low.. that is until more than 2 or 3 enemies were on screen at once - something about multiple combat just killed the fps

"I originally ordered Gothic 2 from Europe cause it was taking too long to get here. I ordered from Gameplay and they shipped it here quick and not too expensive. They're reliable if any other US or Cannuck peeps want the game early."

I ordered Silent Storm from them and had it just over a week later. Yet (like Arnie says) I live in Cali-forn-ia.

But I would assume with a huge title like G3 GoGamer will import a significant number of copies (from the UK) and they are also located here in Cali-forn-ia.

I am actually thinking about taking the plunge and pre-ordering.

JoWooD has already announced that they won't use Starforce.

You're right, I'd forgotten about that. I just saw Deep Silver, who are one of the biggest SF monkeys, and assumed the worst.

Btw, not to derail the thread or anything, but since it's being released by Deep Silver, that might spell Starforce?

Well, if it is only released in Europe you can easily BT it until the US release just like the previous games.

Easy and done.

No simultaneous North American release AGAIN?

Hardly any games ever get "simultaneous" release.

Just about anything made here in the US... the Euro's usually have to wait... especially Germany.

It's called Government Beauracracy . (Any Government)
They must sift through the game in question and make sure it doesn't break any of their censorship laws / or needs to be "rated" for the foreign country in question.

Also, in some cases... it's a translation issue.

Anyway... you can bet that most games not made in the US will not be released here at the same time... just as you can bet that most games that are made in the US won't get released overseas at the same time.

Probably wouldn't be too hard to find now, if you wanted to start the series from the beginning.

Gothic 2 has a gold edition which includes the Night of the Raven expansion and is easy to find. Gothic 1, not so much. You either have to order from a European retailer or get it off eBay and even then, it's usually only the DVD hardcase version (which may or may not be a bootleg). It took me several years to find and obtain the original retail box version.

We don't care when it's released in the US, as Gothic is too complex for most Americans anyway.

WTF? Seriously, DUBBLEYOO TEE EFF. Too complex? Some of the most complex PC games on the planet actually come out of the US you snobbish faggot. Oh, i'm sorry i forgot -- over there the proper word for "snobbish faggot" is EUROPEAN. Quite. Indeed. Jolly good show.

Didn't they release "Gold" editions of the first two games a while back? Probably wouldn't be too hard to find now, if you wanted to start the series from the beginning.
