Battlefield 2 Update

A new Battlefield 2 update (thanks James) paradoxically describes the great success of the launch of the Armored Fury booster pack and their recognition that this has been a "very trying time" for fans of DICE's shooter sequel. They also mention that the map they were recently testing (story) will be in the next patch, rather than a booster pack. Most significantly, they describe a commitment to fix some things going forward:
The DICE team has been reviewing player feedback gathered from forums, email, and the ranker server providers in an effort to provide the best possible step forward from 1.3. While this work has been highly focused on bug fixing the team has also managed to put some work towards new content.

I play BF2 on by brothers machine, and I get 'kicked' because I nailed someone that looked red. 'Reproduce'???

Fuck off.

How about I play BF42 ALL THE TIME. and guess what? They still haven't figured out how to let you SPAWN on your last SPAWN point.

Is that a bitch? Yes. But WHY THE FUCK can't I spawn on the last spawn point that I've been SPAWNING ON for the last seven million times?

Typicall shit that doesnt get addressed. That kind of shit is still in BF42 AND BF2. It's not worthy.

And if it's not WORTHY of ME, fuck off.

Good luck, wanksters.

Paranoid:
Never said I could reproduce it... nor did I say I could recreate it at will. Hell, I am the consumer not the Q/A or one of the Programers on the game. Why would I want to spend my time reproducing a bug so that you can fix it unless I am looking for a job in the industry?

"Must be really hard to recreate the bug."

Made me laugh my ass off. I can recreate that bug a dozen times a map if not more....

Saying that you can recreate it "a dozen times a map" -- meaning that you can recreate it a dozen times in 15-45 minutes -- is definately saying you could recreate it at will. If you can't figure out how you're doing something at basically the rate of one instance per 3-4 minutes (12 instances / 45 minutes), roughly each time you spawn if you die often, then you have problems. The whole point here is that you're full of shit and you can't recreate it and you were exaggerating your estimate in the first place. In 100 hours of gameplay I saw this bug 3-5 times, tops.

No one's saying it is your job to reproduce a bug so that they can fix the game, but if you're not going to help then why are you bitching about it? "Oooooooh whoa is me...I am poor...I need food...let me lay in this gutter and whine while I starve to death instead of going to find some food...even though I know where the soup kitchen is giving food for free" -- same concept.

Webdemon:
Yeah? Well Desert Combat gave us everything and then some that BF2 has and it was ZERO bucks.

The only reason Desert Combat was free was because they didn't have the legal right to sell it to you, so this point is mute.

I have a fairly good job now and the pay is above average... no thanks, I will leave the bug hunts to you.

One thing you need to do, as you so vehemently put it, is to just not buy the peice of shit. I didn't upgrade my computer for it, didn't buy it, played it for maybe 50 hours on a friends computer and said 'goodbye'.

It's only fifty bucks. Relax.

Yeah? Well Desert Combat gave us everything and then some that BF2 has and it was ZERO bucks. Problem is EA just went and bought up the maker of that little mod and made a sequel out of it.

Oh and btw there Dice boy, he did say how to reproduce it. Just play the game and there you go.
I wonder how they'll handle the ranking system because I'd imagine that the BF2 stats whores are not going to want to start from scratch again with 2142. One thing they need to do is ban booster pack unlocks from the vanilla game. That SF sniper rifle unlock turned me into an absolute reaper when I grabbed it from a dead sniper. You can't NOT get mad kills with that thing, and don't even get me started on that retarded flash/bang. Want to use you Booster unlocks? Go play on a booster map server.

I still have a P933 with an ATI9250. It barely plays ET and BF1942. I get a lot of entertainment from those two games. I've put in about 50 hours of BF2 and was going to buy a new computer system for it, but....

Why? Everytime I go to my brothers place to play it, it's a different game. Plus, it seems like after fucking around for around four hours, we finally get into a good game (with teamspeak and a squad that is working), he's got to go to work. He knows the good servers, I don't. To me it seems like it would be fun if I had the time...

To play Devils advocate here: Its refreshing to see they are adding a new map in the patch and resolving the cartillery and CTD issue, but I've grown to accept the idea of booster packs. The simple fact is that assets simply aren't that easy to develop for games like BF2. Something like Armoured assault which has new vehicles, and some absolutely astounding new maps is really not a bad deal for 10 bucks. It's a substantial improvement over Euro-Force that really brings some great gameplay to the BF2 line (and proper 64 player maps!) The one beef I really have is how bad they've screwed over the mod community due to the ranked servers. Although I imagine once something like Forgotten Hope 2 is released people will leave behind their virtual achievements for some fresh gameplay. Even still, here's hoping Quakewars rocks total, serious ass.

...to seriously considering uninstalling the whole lot (BF2+SF+EF) and never looking back.

You know, I've already taken that path and not looked back. I'm just waiting for Quake Wars now. And that one I'm going to wait at least a month after the release to decide to purchase or not.

Latest scourge to hit BF2- Key Macros.

Yep, everything from auto-fire to prone & roll, and even a macro for the TV-Guided helo missle to smooth aiming.

I've gone from getting jazzed over Armored Fury and likely purchasing it to seriously considering uninstalling the whole lot (BF2+SF+EF) and never looking back.

What is the highest anybody has ever hovered?

Is it possible to make sonic booms in the jets? I swear I heard my jet make a sonic boom when flying higher then diving fast on wake island.

Oh god no! If they did that who knows what else would get screwed up. Heck they might not even fly anymore then.

What is the flight ceiling on BF2? I usually hover a helicopter at 500 ft so people can spawn in it and parachute out to own the enemies runway A hovering spawn point is a great tactic to OWN

Cracked me up the other night when somebody came on here after I made a joking comment about how I can recreate the Red-Name bug a dozen times a map. He wanted to know just how I "reproduced" it. LoL!

I played the buggy ass game, Einstein. That's how I can get that and a dozen other bugs to show up on any given night. Though I'll admit if the game wasn't this fun it would have been abandoned long ago.

I hope for their sake they can clean up 2142 before releasing it. But my guess is the Red-Name bug, the rockets with no impact, the hit and miss damage detection, and a few others will all make an appearance in 2142.

Still doubt I will buy it. But who knows if enough of my Clan (gaming buddies) buy in I may do it just so I can join them on those nights I am willing to put up with the bugs.

Anyone know if they are going the same route with 2142? Ranked Unlocks? Ranked Servers? Nazi style Server control? Air Vehicles that are overly armored?

This game is done. Still fun here and there

What he said, I can play BF2 for a little while but eventually something happens that makes me roll my eyes and quit. Like a crash to desktop...

DICE just doesn't care about this game anymore, hasn't for a long time. It's sad because they could make some small adjustments and make the game extremely good, but they want to make people want to move on to something else... hmmm, hey look BF2142 is coming out! What a coincidence!

It's about time they gave us a new map. I Won't buy "booster packs", although I couldn't even if I wanted to because the EA loader only runs un XP, I'm still Win 2K. Found no good reason to upgrade before Vista. Sad thing is these "booster packs" would have been free content if they hadn't completly shut out mod makers with thier asinine ranking system. I'll bet dollars to donuts that this will be the last patch before 2142 releases.

This is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. I like the idea of being able to drop a vehicle on a high building for people to use the MG turret, but having one land on the enemy chopper pad is just annoying and ridiculous.
