New Oblivion Dungeon

The Elder Scrolls Store (thanks Thomas) now offers the promised new dungeon quest for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. In the old days they'd give away the razor to sell the blades, but in this case you'll have to pony up $2.99 for Mehrunes' Razor. Word is: "Conquer one of the deepest and most challenging dungeons in all of Cyrodiil to claim this fearsome weapon."

Bethesda has this HUGE problem with quantity over quality. A game like Gothic has quality of quantity. Forget Oblivion 1000 dungeons and ruins, make like 5-10 but make them memorable and unique.

They failed again with Oblivion in so many way. The graphics are always stellar in the game, its the generic content and the inability to do normal things (attack from horse?) that kills the game.

I totally agree. I didn't even bother exploring but about five or six dungeons (outside main quest dungeons) because they all look basically EXACTLY THE SAME. There are the caves, the greenish blue elven dungeons, and the imperial dungeons, and thats it. They build the dungeons with "tiles" and just piece them together like a lego set, and you get 1,000's of homogeneous dungeons that get boring fast.

I would rather have like 15 or 20 UNIQUE and DIFFERENT dungeons in the world that 2,000 of the same dungeon in slightly different configurations.

Niftools is quite advanced; you can get weapons, statics (buildings etc) and new armours ingame right now. Getting this stuff to integrate into the game is a bit of a hassle right now (you have to use Havok shapes from other models in most cases...that just blows: I REALLY need to be able to create my own collection of Havok shapes in 3dsmax for my models if I want to finish my mod in anything like reasonable time).

So we can do a lot, but WHERE THE FUCK IS MY OFFICIAL EXPORTER, BETHESDA?!

Ummm.. Mehrunes Razor came with the original game, it was just not available anywhere in the world. All you have to do is place it somewhere through the construction set. There are already many mods that add Mehrunes Razor...

Cheating? How am I cheating? Who exactly am I cheating? Doesn't there need to be another person involved to cheat? You know all those people in the game aren't real right? There is no one to cheat, just play the game however you like.

Copying soul gems = cheating. Since when do you need other players to cheat? I don't care if you cheat online or alone. Cheating is cheating and should be punishable by torture.

So, why should I care about how you play your games? I don't really care about your experience. I do, however, care that you are tainting the experience designed by the developers. It's like watching the end of the movie first. Now you can argue "well, I don't give a crap about what the designers want because their game sucks." If that's the case, you shouldn't have bought the game in the first place.

So, in summary, cheaters (both online and offline) should be tortured.

Do NOT give Martin Azura's Star, or I swear I will hunt you forever. Give him Wabbajack or something useless like that, Sanguine Rose or something.

Azura's Star, together with the Skeleton Key, is one of the finest items in the game, and if you give it to Martin you NEVER get it back.

I miss Morrowind's enchanting system. God, I spent two whole fucking DAYS enchanting and layering loot. Even Vivec pissed his pants at the sight of my enchanted daedric armor / enchanted tunic / enchanted pants / enchanted skirt / enchanted slippers / enchanted amulet / enchanted helmet / enchanted fop hat / enchanted rings Spellsword. Looked and moved a bit like the michelin man, but meh, it was fun to completely own that stupid volcano with him.

Enchanting in Oblivion is weak crap compared to it. Woohoo, a +10 on strength, that's helpful...

That assumes you haven't got any daedric artifacts by that point, but yeah, if you haven't, it'll point you at that one - it's one of the lower level ones. I ended up getting the lockpick early on, so I already had an artifact when I talked to Martin - no need for the pointer.

Yeah well last time I checked, activating the main quest to find a daedric artifact didn't put anything on my map but the Shrine of Azura.

I've uninstalled it and gone back to playing Morrowind. It's an okay game, but it just doesn't live up to it's predecessors. Beth should have just made Oblivion the start of a series of it's own instead of having it try to live up to being a TES game.

Azura's Star is part of the main questline, so...

Eh? No it's not. You have to get some daedric artifact to give to Martin, but any of them will work.

Isn't it obvious that Downloadable content is made for the Xbox360. The only reason Bethesda offers the content for the PC is so people don't bitch about Xbox360 users getting more than them. I guess in the end, PC users bitched anyway...

Its a fun game but who needs a super-weapon? The game gets easy after about 10-15 hours of play no matter whta type of character you create.

You know, its funny, I was playing Oblivion, and it wasent bad, and then real life called, so i had to take a break for a couple of weeks.

I came back to the game and just couldent get into it, so I broke out the gamecube and started playing Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, and damn its good, Ive racked up over 50 hours of play and its been a complete blast.

PA made the same comment, once something breaks the spell of the game you just cant get back into it.

And as for this continual microcontent for stuff that was already in the game... yeah well, anyone who watched my posts knows how i feel on that crap.

Btw, Tumbler, why are you copying grand soul gems when you could just use Azura's Star?

Hmm I don't have Azura's star.... I haven't played the game in about a month now so there is still a bunch of stuff to complete, but got a little burnt out on teh game.

What, you only own one set of armor in the game? Ask Creston how many sets of armor he has.

ALLLLLLLL of them, biotches!!!

And displayed quite nicely in my 60K house too, I might add. Actually, I've been waiting for one modder to release his Lighthouse on the Niben River mod, because he's got mannequins in it. Right now my armor is just strewn about a bedroom. It looks alright, but not as cool as it would look on some mannequins.

Personally, I don't feel that Beth deserves the flack for trying to make some extra money. Oblivion out of the box has an ABSURD amount of content. Okay, the scaled levelling sucks, and the scaled loot, but the quests and such are, for the most part, very well done and just FUN to play through.

However, similarly why I don't buy HL2 Ep1, I feel gipped if I pay money, however little, for something and then finish it 20 minutes later. Or four hours. I want to buy something that lasts me a few evenings. If Beth released an expansion pack, I'd be over it like a bear on tuna, but this nickle and dime stuff is just... not interesting enough. And because it IS small stuff, you know it's never going to introduce something new. (like an expansion pack would).

The one thing Beth is at horrible fault for is dragging their dumb ass with that patch. Some of those bugs should have been fixed within a week.
