Nothing in that rumor is true in regards to Blizzard. If I had to guess, there was some confusion between what Vivendi has planned for its its game division versus what Blizzard has planned. While Blizzard is owned by Vivendi, their game division operates seperately from Blizzard.
If Vanguard is even half as good as it sounds it's going to rock out with its cock out.I have a friend who is an impulsive MMO player. He gobbled up WoW when it came out, and told me I needed to play it. By the time I got broadband, he had gotten bored with the game. Then Guild Wars came out, and he told me it was much better than WoW. After a while, he decided it sucked and went back to WoW. Now he's saying Dungeons and Dragons Online is better, and I need to play it. However, I'm sure in a few weeks he'll hate that game and say some new MMO is the "best game ever." I've stuck with WoW all that time (off and on), and I still haven't seen a MMO that came close to touching it in terms of accessability/entertainment value. I'm sure Vanguard will be no different. I don't have time to play for hours every day, and a lot of the other MMOs don't appeal to the casual gamer like WoW. Of course, hardcore players have an advantage, but I think that's true of any game.
releasing a game, or even releasing *news* of a game other than WoW would quickly dispel such rumors.Exactly... until then all the WoW fans will constantly praise Blizzard, whilst all the others will criticise them for milking the subscription model. It's a shame the Blizzard fanbois get on my tits so much, as it just pushes me to dislike Blizzard games and rebel against their fans. *shrugs*
Why make another game, and then have your WoW players go play that, rather than sink more money into WoW?
that the guy says that that they aren't developing MMOGs. He never states, however, that they are developing ANYTHING at all, beyond the WoW expansion. That's the attitude that EA took with UO. Look where they are now. (considered a joke by serious gamers).
Why would they? WoW bring in a hojillion dollars a month. Blizzard really has no intention to do anything else. Why make another game, and then have your WoW players go play that, rather than sink more money into WoW?
If Vanguard is even half as good as it sounds it's going to rock out with its cock out.Funny ... word on the "rumor mill" this that that there is an influential and vocal group of Vanguard beta testers that are completely bagging out any features in the game that even vaguely resembles WoW. The really sad thing is they have been harrassing other beta testers that disagree with them to the point that many people have pulled out. This added to the fact that this group seems to have a degree of "pull" with the developers, it makes me wonder if it's doomed before it even starts. Lets face it .... WoW is pretty successful. If the beta testers end up predominately WoW-haters, then what's Vanguard likely to end up as?
I like toast!I hear toast uses Starforce.
Hell, I'm only playing WoW cause there are no other decennt MMOs going on.
we will tell them they must work for The Burnt Toast Man, who's trying to keep us down.
I like toast!
I think Diablo 3 should be done like Guild Wars, and they could make it direct competition for Guild Wars, and just release a new expansion every year or so at 50 dollars.
