The new maps are fun, but none of them really hit the Karkand/Sharqi levels of coolness. And Road Rage has a really nicely done suburban neighborhood area. Unfortunately, there's no flag there... and it's completely out of the way of the game. I dunno why they put this neighborhood in, with carefully constructed new 3d models and everything, and then don't even let players enjoy fighting in it!

anyone else see the BF2 community fragment to the point where it'll be tough for gamers to find good quality servers?

not that i play this game any longer and i should care.. i refuse to play because of the horrible mechanics.

That's how I got a great deal of my points. You could always rely on the ranking system to make people stupid. I'd Lay C4 all out around a flag and wait for an interloper. Once the flag turns white, they'd come out of the wood work and dive in to get the precious capture points then, BOOOOM! I'd get 6 or 8 guys + Armor sometimes. Call for supplies, repeat. Yawn.

Still Play from time to time but it's just not Desert Combat. EA took a GREAT mod, sucked the fun out of it, and made it retail. Made sure no one wanted to play mods on it, then puts out "booster packs" that would have been FREE community mods barely 2 years ago. Desert Combat was more fun AND it was FREE. The corporate succubus that is EA destroys another awsome game. 2142 should be an interesting disaster.

The main change is that they've introduced a lot of bugs.

They should release this expansion for free to everyone who loaded the 1.3 patch.

The new maps absolutely rock. Much much better than the ones from Euro Force. "Operation Road Rage" is the shit.

I bought the damn game, I want to use everything it comes with. Screw this unlock crap. Who cares about ranks?

Thats really unfortunate because the map editor for the game is pretty damned easy to learn. EA could help by accepting a certain number of player made maps and put them into an official release and allow the ranking system to be used

why arent there any generally-played modded maps for BF2? Every other FPS I've played has been modded to bits, it seems like there arent any new BF2 maps. Anyone know why? do they not show up within the game or something?

I think I'll buy this one :). The video clips look really nice and the chance to fight over a free way section sounds really fun.
