And here's to the Pirate Party in Sweden getting some nice publicity, and perhaps some extra votes, out of the past week's situation.

Good one War you twat... legality does not equal morality. That's a classic.

You're right, but it's irrelevant - punishment for something which is not banned by law is also immorral. And it's not (as I understand it) outside of the law in Sweden.

And in Sweden, US laws (or UK/French/Angolan) laws don't mean shit.

Great analogy, War. Using our power to impose copyright law on other nations is exactly like whiping out slavery. Hell, the war on piracy is probably more important than WW 2 in terms of moral significance.

Oh, wait. No.. none of that is true.

circumvent their own laws at the behest of a privledged few
I bet you wouldn't be angry if the US did the same to stop some perfectly legal slavers in Sweden, now, would it?

Legality does not equal morality. And the idiots at Pirate Bay need to be taught a lesson - which I see they haven't learned yet.

Oh, and those "privileged few" are the backbone on which this industry (and others) are founded. Screw with developers, screw the industry.

what makes me most angry is that this happened because of pressure from the US which , in turn, is being pressured by the RIAA/MPAA. This pressure caused a country to circumvent their own laws at the behest of a privledged few.

All the while we pressure and use taxpayer money to help these shysters get their cut while we completely ignore places like Dafur where charitable food shipments get intercepted and kept from people literally dying of starvation. Beautiful.

I heard it was in the Netherlands now.

Knowing that the MPAA is watching it and going after it, I would think twice about using a file sharing program on it, though...

It's already back up, servers in Amsterdam I think. Although people seem strangely reluctant to seed copyrighted material there at the moment
