That is what we all want. And I didnt say we should be feared as people you don't mess with? You came up with that. I'm just saying that some of us are armed, and won't tolerate being physically attacked. There have been several gay people killed in the southeastern United States - especially Alabama in the last few yeas. And I not going to let this happen to myself or any of my friends / loved ones, so therefore I am armed.
Sorry, but talking about carrying a gun makes it sound (to me anyway) like you are trying to pass yourself off as someone "not to be messed with." I probably should have made it clear that I'm one of those "damn liberals" that doesn't buy the "guns for defense" argument. I'm not convinced that having a gun would necessarily prevent murder, or even decrease the chances of it happening. For example, the case you mention about the gay couple being shot in their apartment - I don't know the details (nor do I want to - hearing about it is sickening enough), but if they were asleep how would a gun have helped them survive? Anyway, I wasn't trying to imply that you would draw a gun on someone. It's just with all your talk about carrying a gun, it sounded rather gung-ho. I thought your comment about Glocks was a joke, but your follow-up posts made it seem serious.
Again, I apologize for the confusion.
If you are heterosexual, then you cannot know how much hatred exists towards gay people unless you have personally experienced it. Seeing it happening to someone else is not the same. I have worked with people who talk about wanting to hunt down and kill homosexuals.
I'm sure that's true. I can only imagine how bad it is, although I've certainly heard my old coworkers talk about how much they hate gays and people that aren't white. They haven't talked about killing them, but I was offended anyway.
