Beamer and I have had our differences before, but well said in that post and I agree with everything. However I will still pre-order on Steam just because I find it so damn easy (as I've summed up in detail in last weeks thread), and I'm looking forward to seeing what Valve has up their sleeve as bonus for ordering it over Steam. I think they will do better than HL2DM and HLSDM since people arent too pleased about either.
I still think the combat needs to be refined. It feels like shooting guys standing there. And I really don't feel much of a connection between my bullets and the target, unlike in many other recent games. I find that most disappointing and really hope they improve it.
I agree entirely. I prefer the SiN Episodes, Counter-Strike, DoDs form of combat where if you can aim at the head and control your recoil you will get quick kills. Whereas no matter how much you aim with the machine gun in HL2 there is still random spray. I also want to see a higher ammo max for the Magnum so I can use it more.
I know I'm alone in this.
Nope, not alone. I enjoyed all of HL2's vehicles. I do think the fanboat did for on a few levels longer than it needed to...but enjoyed nonetheless.
I still think the Source engine looks fantastic. While it's blocky, I find it to be the most realistic engine out there right now. It's in the textures and the lighting. Maybe it isn't dynamic, but it's realistic.
I think the same thing. Whether its Unreal, Doom 3, Lithtech, or whatever other game engine, it never feels quite right to me. Starting with I guess Quake 1, then Half Life I was hooked on the movement and even moreso with the Source Engine. I like so many more mods and 3rd party titles based on Source than I do of any other engine, simply because of how the engine feels. It also helps that Source Engine games run flawlessly on my computer.
