Dog bowl designed to keep dogs from eating too fast (thanks Ant). A good idea, but I'm not convinced… Gunnar eats two meals a day that are each over a pound of meat in probably about two minutes all told, and it looks like the only way that bowl would slow him down is the time it would take to eat the plastic nubs.

it is the DPC entry that is causing the slow downs, im thinking that those first 4 entries should be pretty standard for other people right? if not, and the DPC is an anonamaly then ive got a problem

Actually, I am not getting any DPC’s at all.

I opened up similar programs too, to what you said. (FireFox, Thunderbird, both Microsoft Office and Open Office, as well as virus scanner, etc etc) and none at all.

Again, from that bad ass site I referred to earlier:
http://www.sysinternals.com/Information/AdvancedDPCs.html

So it is probably some driver (as you mentioned). There has to be a way to find out which driver though. The only problem is I am not getting any so I can not try and figure out how to track it down!

Just update every driver in your system

Also depends on the dog.

Schnauzers (like our dog) are very prone to pancreatitis and we have been told by several vets not to feed her raw meat or any table scraps. She gets dry and wet food twice daily and her weight and health are good, except for the diabetes she developed about a year ago. She's about 10 years old or so.

m looking into getting a Great Dane (Still), and one of the more consistant comments ive heard is that the BARF diet can add several years to their life, which for a great dane can mean additional 20-50% additional life span, which is pretty cool!

I am not saying they are lying, but as Blue pointed out even referring to human doctors where billions of dollars of research goes a year they all do not even come close to all agreeing on the benefits and drawbacks of different things.

I would guess it is less to do with what is actually being eaten and the kind of person the dog owner is. I would guess most people willing to spend that extra money and time on food are also the same people who walk the dogs regularly and the dogs get plenty of play and exercise.

Like I said though, my dog is the happiest puppy in the world and in perfect health…so I am not going to worry too much. To each is own. If the owner is not happy and does not feel good (especially when relating to the dog) then typically the dog is miserable as well, so whatever makes it all work out I am cool with.

Tis possible some kind of Malware trying to hide from you. You have updated all your virus and spyware software and did a scanny?

Yeah checked it for spyware etc.

The list in Process Explorer reads like this:
+System Idle Process
Interrupts
DPCs
+System

it is the DPC entry that is causing the slow downs, im thinking that those first 4 entries should be pretty standard for other people right? if not, and the DPC is an anonamaly then ive got a problem

doing a google search on it just turns up stuff about drivers.

Is it a specific driver or is it a general windows driver? If it is not a general windows driver you might try uninstalling and reinstalling/updating the driver then.

Also, double click on the specific process or sub-process and check out the threads tab…that might help narrow it down a little more.

Enahs to the rescue!

well, turns out that the pausing is caused by Deferred Procedure Calls, and watching th graph of it, it is grabbing 50%+ of my CPU load when it kicks in.

Unfortunatly this looks like a major part of the OS, so im not too sure about killing the procedure, doing a google search on it just turns up stuff about drivers.

Great program though, i dont feel so L33T about my PC sk1llZ anymore

You actually feed your dog meat every day rather than a dry food?

Dogs naturally eat just meat. It is more odd for us to feed them carbohydrate based food every day. The thing I would question is though if he should be feeding them every day as a meat diet. Naturally (in the wild) dogs would go for days without eating. I could argue it would be more healthy for him to do the pure meat diet (like he said many times he does) but only feed them every other day.
It sure would save Blue a good bit of money to feed him every other day.

It is indeed meat every day for the BlueDogs, a blend of raw meat, bone, and veggies. You can Google BARF (Bones and Raw Food) diet to learn about the concept, but Enahs has surmised the essense of it, that it is their "natural" diet.

Where is that vet when you need him? I would be curious to hear what a vet would say.

Many Vets aren't wild about this, but like their human doctor counterparts, most of them are surprisingly weak on nutrition. They also get lots of support from dog food manufacturers.

And Enahs also intuited another part of it... the dogs generally fast one day a week.

I didn't like TNG because it seemed in every episode some alien or entity would infect __________ and cause data to attack _________ and __________ would figure it out and save the day.

Did anything ever go right on that ship? Hell I would be afraid to take a shower.

Or ______ would attack the enterprise causeing _________ only to have _______ figure it out and do ________ to save the day.

I have a question:

Im running XP on my laptop, and for no real reason it has started to pause every 10 or so seconds, running task manager i see that the CPU load goes upto 100% and the item using that is the system...

Ive had this before and know that just restarting will sort it, but im trying to figure what might be the cause of it.

Ive got IE, Word, Firefox, Outlook and MSN running, so nothing out of the ordinary.

Any ideas?

I liked TNG better.

TNG is still my fav Trek, but it was a rocky start. You had Riker who looked like a goober w/o his beard. You had Troi, who's job the first season was to cry at the drop of a hat. You had Jordi wearing that damn hair clip as a visor. You had Data, who got the fuck Denise Crosby. Then she got killed by a tar ball. Worf was PMS-ing the whole year.

Ah, what a great team!

edit: And I'm surprised no one flushed Wesley out the airlock (his character did get better, and Weaton's blog is a fun read - he seems like a genuinely nice guy.)

Its like those people who whine about Battle star Galactica. The new version is 100% better than the lame 70's verson much like DS9 was bettter than TNG.

I agree the new BSG is way better. And while the 70’s version was lame I like lame old cheesy Sci-Fi! But I disagree with DS9…I liked TNG better. DS9 was really good the for a few seasons where they where fighting with the Domnion…but before that and the last few seasons just sucked.

For those interested, DS lite for $116

http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/ds-lite/ds-lite-for-116-175772.php

What's the standard retail going to be? $119 or $129?

I have to say, while at Best Bi for lunch, I came damn close to picking up the original DS, bundled w/ Animal Crossing. As a matter of fact, it's still in the back of my head, and I'm trying to tell myself to wait 2-3 weeks for the Lite to ship...

edit:
Zathrus called me an said I was an idiot for thinking that they would.

To be honest the Original 70's versions sucked. The updated one were much better other then the fact that gweedo shot first.

Other than that all the really did was make the crappy 70s effects better and change that Horrible Return of the Jedi ending.

I personally feed my dog the hard carbohydrate based food daily and give him meat occasionally for snacks. No reason other then it is cheap and he likes the hard food and is healthy and happy.
