I have no doubt I can be subconsciously influenced by ads. But that's different from intentionally picking and choosing on the sole strength of the adverts, and wilfully disregarding something on the basis of the name.
I didn't say anything regarding the subconsious, or meant to make any allusions to it. Disregarding that, I agree with you; however an advert gets my attention, be it for whatever product it is, my reaoning for need vs. wants kicks in. If it's got a fruity sounding name, it'll get more attention directed towards its background; particularly if the company is one I'm familiar with or have bought products from before.
