Long load times, sub par graphics compared to the 360 version, clunky movement, clunky squad control. Cant say im too impressed.

Big fan of GR1, RO ,PRMM for BF2 (realistic), OFP, soon to be AA. Dld the full version.

System: a64singlecore@2.7ghz, 7800gtx512, 2gb 500mhzdrr
1920x1200 8xaniso everything all the way up
Game overall - crap
graphics - crappy and brown (mexico is colourful)

ai - sometimes decent, most of the time weak (random weird shit)

realism = not even close (gr1 had better ai and realism)Fake recoil (2 shots then upwards)

fun = somewhat alright if you have all your other game conquered

sound = completely wrong sounds for weapons (trust me)

other: feels like marshmallows

no in game option to turn off hdr and add FSAA-->can be done but why not in the game

I thought the demo was pretty darn cool. I have 0 experience with any other Ghost Recon game so I don't have all the sentimental baggage that lots of reviewers do.

I still have the chance to cancel my pre-order but I don't wanna.

Anyone else getting this bug? I go Multi-player to find nothing but a LAN tab. I am assuming the game doesn't like or won't play nicely with my firewall (even though its wide open and my pants are around my ankles).

I really wish people would stop calling this a port. Anyone that claims such has OBVIOUSLY never played a single other version of GRAW, be it PS2, Xbox or Xbox 360. It's an entirely different engine and it plays NOTHING like the other versions.

Yeah, I could tell that right off. I bought it for the 360 last week when Walmart was running a decent sale on it (well, that an utilizing a gift card my friend got me for Christmas...). After playing the demo, I'm glad I bought the 360 version instead, but had I played the PC version first, I'd probably say the same thing.

Parallax:
The installer says you have to install the drivers even if you don't have a PhysX card. What's up with that?!

There are currently 3 main ways to do physics:

  • Havok
  • PhysX
  • Other(eg. roll your own)

The PhysX driver works with the card but also has a software emulation fallback. They are currently giving that away. For the developer that means instead of paying Havok or having to write their own they can use PhysX software emulation for free. Aegia hopes that many developers will do that and in all those games the driver is already installed and will automagically switch to the PhysX acceleration card when it detects it in the computer. The idea is that in the end they should recover the money of the physics library they are giving away by selling more cards.

I hadn't paid much attention to this one until this last week again. So I had high hopes but not high expectations. I think once you learn the quirks of controlling your team the game will be a huge blast.

I to wish you could change bodies and move from/to any team member you wish. And the AI does some weird shit at times like trying to occupy the same space at a corner that you are already using.

One other weird thing. When you're close to a wall and turn toward it and the gun just vanishes. Or if you're too close it won't let you even see the gun at all even after you lean out. A bit of a learning curve there but not bad.

The slide or dive is kick-ass. I went sniper and made it half way there on my own before a patrol surprised me and turned me into swish-cheese.

Going to play it a few dozen hours and hope I come away with a bigger urge to go pick up my pre-order. I was disappointed at first but after taking a second look I realized I just needed to relearn the realism factor.

Just hoping if and when I pick it up I will come away thinking this is a great shooter not just a good one.

Damn the long loud times and with two gigs of RAM.

Am I missing something? Is this LAN only in the demo? I see no multi-player servers listed and my firewall is wide open.

on my AMD 2600+ 7800GS 1 gig pc3200 crucial 2ns

only thing is I agree with stylin rasta its too much to try to manage your squad and worry about the single player portion, even though im used to this type of game ala rainbow, hidden & dangerous and others I do like Graw series the most, esp the A.I. is usally good. great work and will be a purchase for sure.

I just thought you should all know, using the Move command makes them.....move there. When you want them to not be "idiots" and take cover behind the corner or whatever, use the "Cover" command (F3) so they will get in position and take cover behind whatever they think is best.

I pretty much hadn't used Move all demo except to run some guys past enemy fire or to retreat.

Also, attack is busted or what? Didn't seem to work, maybe you are supposed to press on a objective or something.

I also miss that you can't body-switch :(.

Edited the renderer_settings.xml file found in the gamefolder\ data\ settings folder and was able to change a few settings from medium to high.

Now the Crye Multicam combat uniforms look the way they should. Dead sexy!

Note: changing <variable name="texture_quality_ground" value="medium"/> to high will give the ground a checkerboard look. Not pretty.

. I sure as hell can't tell the difference between a ghost recon 800x600 and a ghost recon 1280x1024.

There's definitely a bug in the demo. If you change your resolution from the main menu without already being in mission, it never changes resolution. Workaround is to load into a mission, THEN go into the menu and change resolution. There is definitely a difference between 800x600 and 1280x1024 in the game.

Edit: I really wish people would stop calling this a port. Anyone that claims such has OBVIOUSLY never played a single other version of GRAW, be it PS2, Xbox or Xbox 360. It's an entirely different engine and it plays NOTHING like the other versions.

Anyone got any torrents for this file? All these sites are slow as hell.

As with most everyone else I'm downloading at 1.5+ megs a second...and as with most everyone this is now going into my bookmarks.

Yet to try the demo/comment, will post my 'findings' later. I'm usually fairly lenient towards console/PC ports due to the very nature of the whole process, hoping this is at least average..which is enough to keep me busy for awhile until something new comes along.

Just finished the demo, and I have to agree with a lot of the points here. It's great fun, and its good to see the AI actually be useful. They are extremely good at finding appropriate cover by themselves, but its funny how they run out in the middle of the street if you manually order them to cover :}. My gripes about not having multiple-stage-execute plans aside, it works pretty well. I actually am kind of glad my team didnt stay close when following too, because I had gone silencer and I hate it when stupid teammates blow your cover in other games.

Overall not bad, but I have to say that not having a rich tactical menu really turns me off, I hate micromanaging my team while trying to fight at the same time, its just not agile enough.
