There was a point when I wanted to buy an xbox 360 but all the games I wanted to play on it (Oblivion, Condemned, GRAW) are just as good on my gaming PC

be prepared for more arcade action with GRAW. i have it on the 360. gone are the good old days when you have to plan missions. you just jump into a level and get spoon fed mission objectives all the way to the end.

first of all, from what we've been told the xbox360 and pc versions are quite different. it's been reworked with the pc gamer in mind. we won't know if they succeeded till we get to play it or at least see some reviews, but i'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt till then.

second, you didn't really "plan" your missions in the original GR. you were dumped in there and given a little tactical map to make some on the fly planning, but nothing like rainbow 6.

there's nothing upsetting about having a commander on my headset giving me orders during a mission as long as it still feels tactical and somewhat realistic. or at least what a civilian like me imagines realism to be

I do not believe we will see US forces look like those guys in GRAW.

Agreed. If you played Ghost Recon 2 you'll notice that all of the Ghosts are outfitted with products from manufacturers like Oakley, Blackhawk and Under Armor. While those and other manufacturers sell equipment marketed for use by military personnel I know of very few soldiers who actually use the products as replacement gear. On top of that many unit commanders will not authorize the use of "civilian" apparel. This has lead me to the feeling is that the future soldier of ghost recon is in fact the future soldier as imagined by the sponsors that Ubisoft was able to get as oppposed to the US Army's vision.

Anything has to be better than the Xbox (not the 360, Xbox 1) version.

Thats what im fearing too. But! I am optimistic that this game will rock. Now there are stuff I see in the screenshots that I dont really like.

1. The game looks like a future soldier simulation for Crye Systems Corp. with its trademark MULTICAM future warrior concept battle uniform. I do not believe we will see US forces look like those guys in GRAW.

2. Mexico City is a colourful and vivid place. I see too much light brown in the screens the city looks sterile and lifeless. Is it too much bloom I am seeing?

3. The diamonds and other icons run counter to the immersion factor, yes I know you can turn them off but they could have used some other images to give you situation awareness.

With all those aside Im eagerly awaiting the game. I hope it dont suck donkey nuts.

I have a strong feeling they fucked it up big time for the PC. ..Again. I'm betting on lots of bugs, stability problems, crashing, and low framerate for high end systems.

Lockdown was a joke, and THANKFULLY everything I have read/seen about GRAW (still getting use to the name), is that they are really going back to the tactical roots of the game and throwing in some sweet updated elements from Rainbow Six 3(and previous versions). While Lockdown looks nice, that's where the good part ends. Incredibly stupid AI on both sides, cannibalized team control system, cannot connect directly to the ingame matchmaking system if you use any sort of router. And my biggest complaint is that they chopped up the levels so they are in parts which is good and bad but mostly bad. And didn't R6 always wear mask's to protect their identy? Not in Lockdown, we got cool headsets now!

I just might have to try this out. It's been a long time since anything scratched that OFP itch. BF2 is fun in it's own right, but it's hardly even the same genre as it's so arcadey.

And apparently even the Rainbow 6 series has gone arcade from what I hear about Lockdown.

By all accounts and all information I've seen and heard from the developers themselves, this game is the new god of modern day tactical shooters.

Time to go book May 3rd off work... and 4th... and 5th...
