Out of the Blue

Okay, it's a long season, and anything can still happen, but the Mets' hot start is so torrid that I feel I have to follow-up on my opening day jokes about their prospects. After 12 games, the amazin's are now in first place by five games. This is the first time in Major League history this had happened, and we're talking a history that runs back 130 years! Again, a 162 game schedule is specifically to allow everything to eventually find its level, and they've only played the dreaded Braves once, but that is still pretty darned impressive.

I read last week that posters in NYC for the Silent Hill flick were being defaced (much to the dismay of the films Producers...too funny!) so here's my 2 cents...

Wow! Ryan is a major league prick! Somebody's ego running away with them perhaps? Nice Napoleon complex on ya there. I take it he won't student union VP much longer... Hope he knows that when and if he decides to go run for public office, this video will be following him. What an ass.

I'll have to disagree with you about the ridiculously long schedule in pro baseball, Blue. I'm firmly convinced that the first half of the season is utterly meaningless--just look at the Astros last year.

As much as I love the game, we could effectively do away with the first sixty or so games and just get to the point. I don't even start watching seriously until after the break. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing.

I actually have a kinda/sorta association with this guy (thru a friend of Rich's family, but never talked about it much) and knew about the Hoffa story for some time...the book will also have a much more GRAPHIC description of the "rats in the cave" thing (for anyone who's seen the HBO documentaries)...he was a truly frightening guy.

Baseball is sooooooo boring. The season is absurdly long. Hockey is getting that way too. Almost the end of April and the friggin playoffs still haven't started.

They should all take a page from the NFL and keep it short and sweet and intense.

Agreed, they could drop 20 games off the hockey season and not suffer for it. There would be fewer injuries and more energetic play.. during the lockout negotiations shortening the season was proposed. However, lost ticket sales revenue will end any discussion of shortening the season.

If football players could play a longer season without wrecking havoc on their bodies would they still play a short season like they do now?

I don't think hockey is too long.
The only gripe I have with hockey is some fo the enw rules.
I went to a lot of Wild games this year, and I didn't see 1 fight.
I had better luck going to the Swarm games (lacrosse).

I think you would.
I remeber last season they were talking about the season length, and a lot of players were saying how they like to sit out the preseason, since it is just that much more damage a year on their bodies.

I do not think the new rules had anything to do with it. The only new rule rregarding fighting was a game suspension for fighting during the last five min of the game. I think no fighting has more to do with the wild then any rule. Box Lacrosse rocks, surprised it has never taken off as a commercial sport. Baseball, god baseball sucks ass, I could never understand why poeple watch it, its like watching paint dry.

As last season has shown, they could drop about 82 games from the NHL schedule and no one would care.

Ummm...

OK, here's a link to some of the most messed-up photos I've seen in a long while..

Can't tell you too much about them, as they were not shot by me. Instead, I'll just leave you with a direct quote of the post by the OP. This dude deserves an award for taking the concept of "always leave them wanting more" to an entirely new level:

That sucks.

It looks like the thing was (relatively) empty. As to say, no passengers. The seats are all empty and there're no... remains.

Yet it looks like a large passenger jet.

I wonder what it was doing?

That scene seemed way too familiar.

I can not be certain because the results where not on the first google page, but that looks an awful lot like the plane crash set from the Tom Cruise War of the Crap Worlds movie.
I think maybe that guy took those pictures of the set.

I mean really, has anybody heard in the past 5 years of that many passenger jet’s crashing into houses, or hell, just one?

Not only that, but it doesn't look to be consitent with a plane crash. If you have ever looked at lpane crash pictures, the debris is not that concentrated.
