Two New Call of Duty Sequels?

Next Call of Duty leaked Modern Warfare tackles terrorists on Joystiq (thanks Mike Martinez) has what are purported to be details on the next two Call of Duty games, quoting an unnamed "reliable source." According to the story, there are plans in the works for another game set in World War II focused on the Normandy breakout campaign, and a game they are calling Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The rumor as they are reporting it has the two games being released for PC and consoles just months apart from each other, with the modern combat game, set in the trendy world of counterterrorism, being developed by series originator Infinity Ward.

A WWI game would be very interesting, I'm surprised nobody has jumped on it. I bet as soon as somebody does make a decent WWI game it would start a trend of it's own...(maybe)?

We need more good sci-fi fps

ive been saying for ages (as im sure plenty of people have) a WW1 game would be great. trench warfare, bayonets, mustard gas, bring it on!

and i also agree with the sci-fi statement. the last good one i played was quake4, and that wasnt really that good, i just love it because of the story/backstory/lore/people-having-machine-bits-forced-into-them.

It's not the WW2 setting I'm sick of (if Bohemia Interactive made a WW2 FPS I'd buy it), but Call of Duty's gameplay I'm not thrilled about (again, if Bohemia ...).

Someone should do a WWI FPS. Artistic license would have to be taken, but you could have tanks, trench warfare, sniper missions, machine gun battles, aircraft, battleships, etc. Maybe some 'experimental' weapons too.

I know there was Iron Storm, but I was thinking of something good.

*number 1 FPS.

WoW, and most MMOs eclipse CS by quite a bit in terms of concurrent players.

I'd like to see Infinity Ward make a sci-fi FPS game in the cinematic war style of COD. That'd be awesome. Set in the Starcraft or Star Wars Clone Wars universe would be cool..

I dunno how they're gonna pull off a modern era counter-terrorism cinematic war game.

It's almost like these WW2 shooters are just part of a huge plot of the government sending kids back in time to invade Normandy, France would get PWNED.

Excellent. CoD2 actually changed my attitude towards "yet another WWII FPS". If it's a good game, I'll play it. A modern theme would be OK with me too.
