The ÜberSoldier single-player demo is now available, offering the promised sample of Burut's supernatural World War II first-person shooter. The demo debuted on GameSpot (registration required), where word is: "The ÜberSoldier demo offers an exciting single-player mission spanning three diverse environments. You'll blast through waves of zombies and Nazi soldiers in your quest to free a key resistance leader, using a wide variety of weapons including the 44 Machine Gun, the MP 40 Machine Pistol, and the devasting [sic] Panzerscreck bazooka as you fight through an underground complex and an enemy base." The download is now also mirrored on 3D Downloads, 3D Gamers, Boomtown (registration required), Computer Games, FileFront, Gameguru Mania, Gamer's Hell, Strategy Informer, and Worthplaying.

I just think the paranoia over SF is overblown.

I used to agree with you, until I actually installed it. X3 was the game that made me overcome my distrust of it, and I'm quite sorry it did (despite being a fun game that I won't be playing anymore). As expected, SF put my dvdrw back into PIO mode, which caused numerous burning problems, bad dvds (and hence wasted money), and completely ruined dvd playback. So for me, at least, the 'paranoia' was justified. Everyone else's mileage may vary.
