Out of the Blue

Happy Fat Tuesday!

As noted on planet rome.ro, yesterday was the anniversary of the release of QTest (actually I think it was the 24th, but close enough for video games). Unbelievably, the multiplayer test for Quake was released (wait for it...) 10 years ago! Equally unbelievably this was covered here at the time (to my regret lots of older content here was deleted rather than archived). Where does the time go?

R.I.P.: WW II fighter ace Scott dies at 97.

Well there is s-video and a dvi slot on the back, but I want to know how I would go about doing this so I can use the High Def settings of the Xbox on the Moniter, now my other problem is, what do I do for audio

If you do not have a widescreen monitor then most likely it will not support the hi-def resolutions. That is 1280x720 or 1920x1080. If your monitor does not support those resolutions there is really no point, as if it works at all things will be all squished and stupid looking (or possible letter boxed). But odds it will just not work at all.

And those s-video and DVI slots in the back are going to be for output, not input (on your VC).

But if you did have a widescreen monitor it would simply just be the hi-def cable from the X-box that goes to DVI or HDMI a male to male adapter for the monitor or a DVI or HDMI to VGA adapter.

The sound would be very easy if your sound card has a RCA in. If it does not you can cheaply get a RCA cable to whatever the standard audio cable (the kind headphones and the line-in on sound cards use). That would just be stereo sound. If the x-box has 5.1 it would take other stuff, but their really is not any point discussing that since I doubt your monitor supports the HD resolutions anyway.

Sorry. But I also have to say HD does look SO damn nice!

*edit*
I see my old CRT monitor can do 1280x720. If yours can put it in it, if it is not a widescreen monitor you can see how crappy it will look if you do that with the X-Box.
