Not in London it's not. It can be up to 3 times that. But the cinemas in London are usually nicer

That's London, though...... bit of an exceptional case.

Homeworld Catyclysm was standalone I think.

I never understood that.. They claim its so you can buy the sequel without having to buy the original...thats fine..but who does that? I can't even conceive of buying an expansion and not buying the original product...or buying the expansion 1st, original 2nd

If I'm even remotely interested in a sequel/expansion. I always start at the beginning.

Yeah but that means they can't bitch NOW

a cinema ticket is about 3.50 for, approx, 1 1/2 hours.

Anyone defending a 4-6 hour episodic game for $20 are the same people that support tax increases on food, liquor and fuel. They look at it like this.

"Jeez man. Its only a nickel on my gas, quit being so cheap."

Well dumb ass let me shove this into perspective.

You gas tax goes up, along with your food, clothing, service taxes, gratuity tax, "convenience" charge tax, your cell phone taxes, your utility taxes etc.

Every year you get nickled and dimed to death, EVERY year.

To defend this is to basically pull down your pants, walk into a prison and scream.

FUCK ME!

Classic! And so fucking true.

Look at Battlefield with its add ons "packs"! What friggin greed for a game that isn't even working properly and gets a little worse each patch.

I refuse to play this game if you know what I mean.

IF its only 4 hours long. Wait till it's out and see how long it really is. Then people can bitch if it's too short.

How often have you known a developer to under estimate the length of a game in a public (PR) statement? Bear in mind the decision to buy generally is made based on anticipated content, etc; people (generally speaking) don't randomly buy things and only then begin to decide if the are worth the price. So we're kind of expected to make these judgements justnow.

Movie tickets aren't much different.

In UK terms (The RR price for the game is the same in numerical terms - £19.99), a cinema ticket is about 3.50 for, approx, 1 1/2 hours.

$19.99 for 10 hours? I'd be happy.
$19.99 for 8? Annoyed, but I'd buy it.
$19.99 for "4-6?" Only if the reviews are perfect, and even than I'd be pissed.
</i>

I'd even be happy for "4-6". Seems pretty cheap to me.

So doesn't this kind of turn "Episode 1" into HL3? I can't think of many game expansions that have been standalone.

Not that I'm saying this game should be worthy of HL3 -- for 4-6 hours of playable content.

It is 20 bucks with deathmatch. Presumably, if you already have HL2 there will be a cheaper package.

And what if we don't want DM?

from the article: ""For HL2: Episode 1 we're targeting four to six hours of new single player gaming plus HL2 DM and HL DM: Source for $19.99 - HL2 not required"

It is 20 bucks with deathmatch. Presumably, if you already have HL2 there will be a cheaper package.

I guess we now know which link in the last Ep 1 thread listed the right price. They made it stand alone so they can charge more, even though anyone who would consider getting this would already have HL2. If you didn't buy HL2, you're not going to pay $20 for one 4-6 hour episode.

I wonder how much HD space is that steam preload folder is going to take up now.

So what you're saying is that he outwitted you.

It looks like you need some help with your reading too. He outwitted no one except you since you were stupid enough to buy into his specious argument. Then again if you are spending $20 on cheese in a week and spend a week playing a game designed for four hours of play, that is not surprising.

Does somebody need a hug?

Aftermath was NEVER going to be a "full-featured" expansion in the first place.

Every single interview or report dealing with the game since it was mentioned last year indicated that it was going to be an shorter "episode" not a traditional "expansion".

The only thing that has changed since then has been the name.

Honestly, sometimes I wonder about the reading comprehension of you people.
