Funny visiting GameSpot! Banner on the top of their page says, "get it first on GameSpot", next is the countdown, still 30 minutes to go

Haha. I dont like any site other than Gamer's Hell for downloading demos and patches etc. They're always quick, rarely full and no queues to wait in. I'm currently getting this demo at 580kb/s. What other website offers that speed for free?!

Ah well. I'll post my first impressions of this game in a bit after i've played it through.

They all should be ^^

I remember you used to be able to search Ausgamers site and get the latest before they posted them. They caught me though.

I wish they would quit releasing demos and pimping me during the day while I am at work.

I understand the dynamics - that there are other people in the world who would also like to play them, and are probably happy that it is nightime in their homeland right now, but I don't care about them. I care about me.

This is a game i think i might well buy.

Demo's good, has a nice stealth mission with the spy and an action one with the green beret and the sniper. Weapons are cool and seem pretty good, it's basically a 1-shot kill when shooting at the enemy (well was when i played it on normal) and your commandos can take a few extra shots thats for sure.

A few nifty little things that i like in it. For the spy you can have a look through the keyhole of a door before you proceede which is nice. The sniper scope is strangely cool. It's got an effect on it where it's magnified in the center then less magnified on the outside. It's hard to explain but i think there's a couple of pictures around on the net showing it. Also putting on a gas mask restricts your view. If you have 2 commandos on a mission and one goes down, he'll lie on the floor screaming until he either dies, or until you move accross and patch him up.

On the graphics side, well they aren't bad graphics, but they aren't D3 standard. For some reason as well i was stuck at an 800x600 resolution which i couldnt change.

One major downside of the demo is that it's way too short. It can be comlpeted in under 10 minutes i'd say.

Oh i think someone was saying something about keeping the tactics side of things, i can well believe that it's true. The ability to quickly "zoom outwards" as it were and have a quick look as to whats going on around you is very very handy. Worth checking it i'd say.

Sounds good. I'm hoping there isn't a bug with the resolution. I would like to pump it up to at least 1280x1024 and see how it looks. If this game comes out multi coop then the replay value will be through the roof not to mention worthy of the 50 bucks.

I'll give it a try. Good that it doesn't need a powerhouse PC.

In order to change resolution go into the config folder and open JeugoVer.cfg.

Edit these lines:

.resolution ( 800.000000 600.000000 )
.resolutionNTSC ( 800.000000 600.000000 )

to what ever you want such as (for 1280x960):

.resolution ( 1280.000000 960.000000 )
.resolutionNTSC ( 1280.000000 960.000000 )

Nabbed from Shack forums.

played it for a bit. It seems like a competent WW2 shooter. The movement, weapon feedback etc all feel solid.

Its no Call of Duty but for $29 it ain't half bad.

As others said even on hard it can be completed in minutes, shame, though what I seen it seems a pretty good game for the price. Switiching between commandos is awesome :).

I remember the original games that this game is supposed to pull its inspiration from, and they were about 23 times cooler than this game - and that's saying a lot.

The game looks average, but looks aren't what is bringing this game down. Its the completely contrived gameplay - a shooting gallery? Who still makes that. The AI is horrendous as they do not seem to notice people getting shot right next to them. After killing everyone on the river bank, stroll to the little wooden hut on the left - there is a guy leisurly smoking a cigar Hehe I played it twice and saw that guy every time.

The stealth aspect with the spy is laughable. First of all, there are invisible walls EVERYWHERE, so you cannot circumvent enemies. It took me bloody 20 minutes to figure out that in order to progress past the first patrol in the stealth mission, I just have to dash straight past them!!! What the hell - what kind of spying is that. All the stuff about don't be noticed, sneak through is completely useless - I tried sneaking but when I got discovered I just shot the guy... A patrol of guys just 20 meters down the road didn't seem to care at all, so when I got to them, they were smoking a cigarette. So I killed them as well, got the officer's uniform and strolled past the guards 20 meters away that curiously did not see or hear anything from my machine gun.

Looking through the lock? Why - just bust down the door and kill the two pathetic enemies.

Sad - this sounded like a good idea, but crappy AI and invisible walls coupled with terrible level design - spies running past patrols like in Looney Tunes - just makes this game lousy.

I don't understand why this demo was released.

I'm hoping that was just for the demo cause it was rather easy and the enemies were rather dumb. I don't know. I was not too impressed with that and I hope the full game will be much better which isn't going to happen since its gonna come out in April. Shame

I agree with Churos and I also want to add about invisible walls. Those invisible barriers are completely retarded and cripple the game play. Why don’t they simply remove them and let player approach the problem anyway they want. Why restrict players to solve the problem the way developers want? That’s something I don’t understand why intentionally ruin the game play. I’m actually astonished by it because that’s not the Pyro’s style. All their previous games never had this stupidity so why the hell they do it now. This just blows. I had such high hopes for this game.

PS Also graphics actually look very good on my machine at (1280 X 1024) and 2x AA.
Runs great too, so I’m not sure why you guys are having problems.

I think people are having problems because they aren't going into the .cfg files and changing the values cause it does look quite good at the higher resolutions. The gameplay is just not that great in my opinion. They should've just stuck to the bird's eye view but made some inovations to it cause this game won't sell that well in it's current form

Invisible walls.
Bodies disappear.
Weapons that aren't picked up in time disappear.
No gore.
Have to hack the config files to change resolution and a few other graphical settings.
No leaning.
AI is dumb.

Graphics are nice and it runs fast on my system: P4 2.8 and Radeon 9800 pro and 1 gb ram.
