Crashday Demo

A new Crashday demo is now available, offering the chance to test drive Moon Byte Studios' upcoming stunt/racing game. The demo provides a sample of the game's stunt and demo derby modes as well as multiplayer support. Proving that quitters never prosper, the demo can only be launched 50 times. The 309 MB download (direct link) is available on Atari Deutschland (registration required), and mirrored on 3D Downloads, 3D Gamers, Boomtown (registration required), Computer Games, eXtreme-Players.de, Filecloud, FileFront, Gameguru Mania, Gamer's Hell, VGPro, and Worthplaying.

Reminds me of Interstate 76 and Interstate 82?
Crashday has no story mode, right? How can a game with no story remind you of I'76?

Regardless, Crashday looked quite neat from the trailer. I was a little bit sad to notice that the damage seemed to be textured only -- judging by the trailer, there isn't any model deformation at all, which is a shame for a game apparently based in significant part around smashing up cars -- but it still looked pretty slick.

IIRC the track editor allows you to create your own custom track components, which is one thing that it has over Trackmania. Not that TM is especially limited or anything

sweeeeeet.

When is this released? (edit: Feb 23rd?)
I will try the demo tonight, but I think this is the "racing" game I have been looking for.

And side mounted machine guns! sweeeeeeeet.

Reminds me of Interstate 76 and Interstate 82?

Anyone else have a problem running the demo? Just after it installed, I go to run it and it comes up with a large, plain looking dialogue box saying: "A security module can not be activated. This program can not be executed."

Any ideas? I'm running Win2K.

Cool cant wait to try this - I have been interested in this game for so long.. they have been developing it for some time now havent they?

Is anyone else getting REALLY tires of that friggin flash advertisement at 3DGamers when you click the "Downloadable files" link? I knew the site would get ruined when they got taken over...

I found it to be fairly fun; as the person above mentioned the stunt mode is fun if you liked the stunt mode from Trackmania, but now the cars actually show damage.

The destruction mode (or whatever it was called) is basically Deathmatch with cars, from what I could tell.

The game looks pretty good, and it runs well at higher resolutions.

There is a track editor, but it's disabled in the demo.

The only mildy annoying thing is the limited use of the mouse in the menu screens; you can tell that this was designed for consoles too.

Anyone else try it yet? Any good?

I really like it so far but then again everytime i like a game everyone else hates the thing so dont go by me.

No track editor and only two vehicles with middling performance. Also, I cant seem to get my gamepad to work.

EDIT: ok, gamepad works. The stunt mode is an absolute hoot. If you enjoy Trackmania Sunrise stunt events but wished it was a bit more realistic in the physics dept. then this game is perfect for you. The deathmatch-style mode is fun as well and should be moreso once I get used to the controls. Once theres more cars availalble you can tell it'll rock. I'm sure ppl will bitch about something here but frankly its good simple fun that I can't find much fault with.
