Stargate SG-1 Cancelled?

Gamecloud reports another twist in the ongoing epic saga of the Stargate SG-1 game (thanks Frans). This project was previously reported as cancelled by JoWooD (story), a report that was contradicted by developer Perception (story). It was then revealed that Namco was eager to step in as publisher of this game (story and story), while a subsequent finding by a bankruptcy court seemed to find fault in the dispute over the game to lie with Perception (story). The new report comes from Crazy Ivan's Stargate Alliance Board, where word is:
It pains me to say this but unfortunately Stargate SG-1 The Alliance has been canceled.

An official statement is forth coming from MGM and/or perception in the coming days.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the employees of Perception all the very best for the future. Having seen the game first hand I know you guys did a fantastic job and you have every right to feel proud of what you have done.

I encourage all the Perception employees who are hidden members of this forum to let yourselves be known. You should be proud of the work you have done and I encourage all members of the forum here to congratulate the Perception crew and to wish them all the very best.

Crichton was military yeah, but he was a scientist. and I frickin loved any episode where he totally flipped out. The episode where he pretends to be stoner surfer guy to make the bad guys think they had succeeded in brainwashing him (cuz they had no idea how a brainwashed human would act) was just pure gold.

My favorite "Crichton Moment" was he was alone on another Leviathon, drunk off his ass on home-brewed moonshine.

He had to fight some hulking mercenary aliens alongside a new alien chick that also came on board. The whole time he was comparing them to Klingons and even started yelling a few good ol' Klingon phrases (from ST:TNG) at them to get them ticked off.

I was laughing my ass off.

I sure wish they would remake the Six Million Dollar man, except stay true to the Original book (which I have read about 5 times). No cheese, serious covert mercenary action with a cyborg twist.

Yeah, that was cool for its time. It was pretty neat how the author could keep the story pretty serious despite the guy's obvious outragious enhancements.

At some point in mod form, like the Babylon 5 mods in various stages of development. But that's it.

I think B5's Vorlons had living ships before LEXX.
I'm keeping quiet about B5. Don't want to stir up more ill will. I don't think I claimed Lexx was THE first living ship, only it did it before and way better than FS. It may have been the first where the show takes place primarily in the living ship though.

And that six million dollar man TV concept is AWESOME! I didn't know the series was based on a book. What a great idea. It's like how BSG took a totally inane, juvenile television series, kept the best parts, threw out the rest, and made something awesome. I've been looking for something to read just lately ...

About Firefly, I spoke too soon when I categorically stated it was boring. I haven't given up on it. What I've seen of it so far was boring and I was never motivated to watch any more of it. But I'll probably end up renting it on DVD someday since everyone thinks it's so great. Unlike Farscape: THAT I've given up on.

The thing about Firefly, it wasn't science fictiony enough to capture my attention. It seemed like the plot could have happened anywhere or anywhen. The ship just happened to be a SPACE ship and the time just happened to be the future--this is from the couple of episodes I've seen, keep in mind. I know that's kind of the whole idea behind the show, so don't scream. I'm just saying what I saw wasn't enough to make me want to see more. My Netflix queue is getting short so who knows, I may check it out again in the next couple of months.

That could work, though they would need to change the names, or else everyone would associate the show with the Campy one.

cuz yeah, if you're going to make a gritty series about a cyborg that's moody cuz he doesn't feel human anymore. you don't want it associated with cheesy 60's camp in *any* way.

though on the other hand, Jake 2.0 didn't work out too well, but granted, that show was heavily mired in cheese

-Cant Run 60mph, can maintain better than Olympic speed for hours.

-Cant Jump 10 stories in a single bound. Can flat jump about 10' straight up.

-Arm can lift about 1 Ton.

-Bones were actually reinforced to handle the stress.

- Eye can only take pictures (or in this age video) cant actually see.

-Major mental issues and fits of depression as Steve deals with the feelings that he is not “human” anymore.

IMO, This would best any SCifi show on TV today with the international intrigue you could do and have that "Superman" thing going as well.

Firefly started out pretty slow, but once I got to the second half of the season it was amazing, especially the last couple episodes. Objects in Space was sweet.

While in principle, I disagree, Farscape was one of the more original shows out there. I can't disagree with some of the points you bring up. Cuz yeah, you're right, the whole 'honor-obsessed' alien race thing has been done to death. Ben Browder was simply great though cuz your traditional SF hero is usually some stuck up career military guy. I mean c'mon, Kirk may have been a loose cannon, but even he was still career military to the core. Crichton was military yeah, but he was a scientist. and I frickin loved any episode where he totally flipped out. The episode where he pretends to be stoner surfer guy to make the bad guys think they had succeeded in brainwashing him (cuz they had no idea how a brainwashed human would act) was just pure gold.

my only problem with Farscape that there were so many episodes that I admittedly just didn't "get it" the first viewing...I seriously had to watch some episodes more than once just to understand WTF was going on. Not really a bad thing in my eyes, but it sure did suck up the time.

"Farscape: crap. Andromeda: real crap. Firefly: boring (sorry)."

You sir, are a reason to register and reply.

Whee, I expected to get dinged for Firefly but I'd forgotten there used to be a lot of Farscape fans here (even Blue if I recall). What can I say? I don't have cable so I started renting them, starting from the first episode, till somewhere mid season 2 when I just got bored. Living ship: been done. If you've never heard of Lexx it was on about the same time as Farscape as I recall. Living ship has child: sorry, Lexx got there first. The first two seasons of Lexx rank in the top five greatest SF TV shows of all time (yeah, season 3 was bad, season 4 pathetic, I know). Every episode of Lexx was fresh and different and surprising and broke every mold that had come before. You've never seen characters like in Lexx. Probably the biggest reason to check out Lexx if you never have before: Dieter Laser! Farscape never had Dieter Laser and that's just sad. With FS you have people aging rapidly then miraculously becoming young again before the episode ends. Hmm, where have I heard that before? You have that one character who is really just a Klingon with a long pointy chin. I'm sorry, I'm tired of "honorable" alien races whose greatest goal is to die in glorious battle. Yawn. His whole story line with his son--been there done that: Worf did it in ST, Tealc in SG1. The episodes just weren't that original or interesting. I don't like the characters--especially that Crichton fellow, something about him rubs me the wrong way. As far as muppets, Pilot is my favorite character probably.

Sorry to upset any other FS fans. Just my opinion you know. FS just never did it for me.

Oh and bluelurker: Welcome! Why don't you stick around for awhile? I like your style. And you called me sir! We can be nemeses if you like!

What was the original topic again? Meh, who cares.

You can all snipe at each other all you want, but in the end, you are all just stating your opinions like they are fact. Which TV show you like is up to you and obviously no one is going to change your mind about it, so why try to change other people's minds?

Oh, I forgot, this is the internet. Nobody has anything truly inspired or even remotely intelligent to say here. Forget I said anything, carry on.
