I played both GW and WoW. A lot.
PvE: WoW > GW
PvP: GW > WoW
WoW is mostly a Co-Op game, a PvE game for those who want to play against AI with their guildmates (there are lots of instances). Battlegrounds are an option for PvP players, but they don't have the depth and complexity of the GW's PvP.
On the other hand, GW is mostly for PvP hardcore players. I'm in a guild that reached #49 in the ladder (we're now on #160 or smth). I played hundreds and hundreds of GvG matches and, oh boy!, i've seen all kind of lamers and average players, but i've seen gods too:D (and not only Koreeans). If I'd compare GW with a game, then Starcraft Broodwar will be the first to come in my mind: same complexity, lots of strategies and tactics, same huge replayability, same fun.
Every match I played (hundreds and hundreds) was different, was unique. There aren't any invincible builds (for team or individuals). For every build, you could set 3-4 counter-builds.
Most WoW fans are thinking that ppl buy and play GW mostly because it's free. Do I have to remember that almost all ppl have games they paid for, played once then unistall? If you play GW it's because is a good game, not because it's free. Ppl are playing BF2, Q2, UT2004 because these games are (very) good games, not because they paid only once for them.
